      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Dynamic Lighting and Rock Chunks

4 posts in this topic

Dynamic Lights:

My suggestion boils down to one thing: Torches (when held in hand) cast off light in their normal radius centered on the player holding said torch, in addition to being tossed on the ground. In addition, for caving, you could add in miner hats that cast off a radius of light while worn, which would enable the miner to delve deeper pickaxe in hand.

Rock Chunks:

Simply put, I think it is illogical that when you chisel rock faces, kilos worth of rock just disappear from the face of the universe. I think that to make amends to this silliness, the stone should drop rock chunks that act similarly to the wooden planks, except they only take up a pixel. Whenever the rock is carved into, it would then drop the appropriate amount of rock chunks that could then be placed by a player.

Additionally, I think that the rock chunks themselves could have placement modes-such as slab (same effect of the chisel's slab mode, except placement), stairs, full block, and single pixel.

I'm unsure of this, but I believe that dynamic lighting is already suggested. Rock chunks? Well... your suggestion must be related to the chiseling of wood, besides the rock chunks. Also, wouldn't the rock chunk be too miniscule? Why not combine them with mortar (when more of the construction update arrives)?

Also...

Or grind them up and make it an alternative ingredient for mortar?

That works, also.
