      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Critical Hits

9 posts in this topic

Alrighty, so in vanilla minsraft, the only way to score a critical hit is to jump and smack the mob, this just seems kind of silly to me.

how about all hits just have a small chance to score a crit, doing twice the damage they would do normally, but this chance could be increased by further sharpening a weapon on a grindstone or something to that degree, although there would be room for failure when sharpening the edge of the weapon.

While i like the general idea of random critical hits instead of fighting like a f+cking kangaroo, the grindstone, and sharpening weapons for a benefit... Let me refresh your memory:

So yeah : if this does happen, it's unlikely a grindstone will be added along with it...

Instead, we could go the simpler way: the better the metal the sword/mace/whatever is made from, the higher the chance of a critical hit. Of course, this needs to be balanced so a guy welding a red steel sword can't insta-kill an army of cavemans, either by making this critical chance really low (5-10% in tier 6?), making the difference between metals small (say, tin sword has 5% chance, while copper sword has 6%), or both.

A way to tie the critical hits to how sharp the weapon is without including sharpening could be lowering this chance the lower the durability left in the weapon. 'Cause, you know, it's likely for an overused knife to lose it's sharp edge, and the same happens to any kind of tool.

or, since right now i don't belive that theres a difference between maces and swords, make swords more prone to critical hits, but have maces do either a little more flat damage or ignore a small percentage of enemy armor
