      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Wool, Cloth Products, Looms

3 posts in this topic

I very much liked the updates to wool and cloth in build 76, although I couldn't help but notice how easy it was to turn yarn/string/fibers into cloth. I suggest a new workshop/crafting table called the loom, it would be used to weave string, yarn, or fibers into fabric or cloth. Cloth would have multiple uses, it already serves the purpose of making beds, but could be used for other things, too, such as, say clothes(I have seen a lot of people asking for body temperature and having to wear clothing to stay warm) or for making the sail of a windmill(another suggestion lots of people have asked for). Looms could start out simple, but, say, a steam age were implemented, as it was wanted for TFC2, a steam powered loom could be implemented(the steam powered spinning jenny and loom were some of the first main machines to explode the popularity of the industrial revolution, and the textile industry in england was enormous), or a spinning jenny, to render wool into yarn.

The above picture would illustrate the primitive and first loom, used to make cloth and fabric, and the following would show a industrial revolution/steam powered one.

Cloth is a pretty important material nowadays, and is used in hundreds of ways, it would make a nice feature in TFC, and could tie in with the need for clothes to maintain body temperature, and being able to make windmills for mechanical power.

This seems pretty interesting, and it doe's make sense. Though I think taking the first stone age step you could keep the spindle to wool string method, but you'd have to use what you put up a sort of weaver to make any cloth.

Like... to make the cloth you would need to place a certain amount of string into a special gui slot and then click weave, while also using a special component item like a wheel. (Not entirely sure) :D it seems like a good idea! I support! ^_^

I would make the gui a 8x8 grit where you put different color of strig to get carpet with a pattern. And of course I would re-introduce more dye color and use the barrel to dye the string. Right now i make pattern with wood plank and it's long to do. But I know that don't really want to make carpet (as you can not put them under anvil as the carpet would take the space).
