      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Two small things to make stuff more realistic

6 posts in this topic

Just out of curiosity i was checking some of the information on the wiki against a book and i realized that olivine also appears in basalt and not only in gabbro as it is in the game right now according to the wiki. I also think that to turn wool yarn into wool cloth you should have to use knitting needles in some way. I think that if this is added then knitting needles should be crafted like this:

SxS (S = stick x = emty slot)

SxS

SxS

yeah, the goal of this mod is not realism, it's believability, so something doesnt neccesarily need to be from real lifew, it just needs to make sense

and have you ever tried to knit with three sticks mashed on top of eachother?

Without turning this into a flame war...

There is a distinction between "believable" and "realistic".

Is it believable that you can hammer copper/bronze into tool-heads/swords? Yes, however if you actually tried it you would -quickly- find out that, because copper and bronze are air hardening metals, it's f**king impossible to do without cracking the metal and making it worthless...

Hence, realistically, hammer forging a bronze sword is impossible.

Previous statement not related to knitting...

WELCOME TO THE FORUMS.

If we must make knitting needles then the recipe should be two sticks and a knife. Each stick becomes one needle and the knife is used to smooth the edges of the sticks into a fine point (as well a cut off any errant edges). Still, until their is more uses for cloth, such as clothing, there isn't much point in adding a new step to wool processing.

Why not have the knitting make cloth armor? I believe there's a temperature system coming up, so this could be a method of warmth. This could be worn underneath the metal armours as well so that you didn't freeze to death instantly.
