      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

As aliceingame explained, you can no longer make Tier-0 tools (e.g. zinc).  You need to start at copper.  There have been a number of changes since Build 76.  The change log in the download menu is a good place to read up on the changes.  Dunk also prepared a video on the main page.  Welcome to the forum!

Hmm, so the only real way to start making a pick is with copper? Okay then...

You can make copper or copper alloy tools. With the sphalerite, you can make bismuth bronze, so you need bismuth and copper. The other copper source is tetrahedrite.

It is not stupid because metal like tin, zinc, bismuth and gold are too soft to make good tools.

That's the game.  Find the right rock type and start searching for copper.  Alternatively, if you're playing SMP, try the chat window and see if someone wants to trade you Zinc for Copper.

All kind of rock have tetrahedrite, no need to look for a specific kind.

seems to me to be just doesn't like the more difficult way of obtaining tools never mind how much easier it is to actually make the tools as you don't need an anvil for first tools

More difficult ? You don't need to find stone anvil, chicken, squid and sugar cane to make your first tool in 77. Yes, you need to have the right kind on small ore, but that is the only thing that make it long, but overall, I think it's easier and faster now. Or maybe it's just that I was lucky in my seed.
