      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

On speed of creating iron

With castable metals (bronze and down) you can create 40 ingots in single "run". And this run costs you only stack of wood.

 

With Iron, you can only create up to 2 ingots and it costs you 16 charcoal. It is also quite hard to make multiple bloomeries thanks to their material cost. And you have to work the bloom multiple times, which consumes more charcoal (or coal) for forge.

 

So, is this "cut trees while bloomeries do their work" intended? Or is this for a chance going to get "rebalanced"?

 

I really don't like it. Be it the difference between the tiers and general monotony of the whole process. It also doesn't make much sense from perspective that you need to make steel harder to get, considering you need 2 new minerals for that.

Technically the speed at which it takes to create iron is still the same, the devs just sped up the speed it takes to make earlier metals.
