      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

How to survive the first night??

8 posts in this topic

I have yet to survive a single night without peacefull mode. The mobs are too tough to fight with stone tools (which makes no sense, a stone axe should be just fine for a couple zombie), and with how long it takes to get blocks you can actually build with you have no shelter. You cant just run from the mobs since at least zombies always home onto your position. How the **** do you survive this???

Nomadism can kill you. If you stay in the same area, you build up spawn protection, and almost no mobs around your house

Build a knife, cut grass with it to get straw and make thatch blocks to build with. Or, what I did was make a shovel and dig out underneath a boulder for shelter.

What is spawn protection? I rarely move more than a chunk or two from my spawn to make my base and I still get plenty of mobs.

Please, read the forum before starting new thread. There is one thread right on the first page, that explains what you are supposed to do.

It's a little trickier than vanilla because you can't just pile dirt together to form a crude shelter. But fortunately there are some other materials you can build from, depending on where you start. If there's a lot of grass, use thatch. If there's a lot of trees, use wood. If there's a lot of clay, use clay. There are other options as noted, such as digging under a boulder or using some other natural rock outcropping and just building up sufficient mounds of dirt to protect yourself.

Until you can mine cobblestone and cut logs into planks, construction is extremely primitive, so you gotta make due.

spawn protection is if you stay in a chunck for some time, it build up spawn protection. it might take a couple of days to build up and after, stay around that chunk at night and it's safe. I do have to go at lest 3-4 chunks away to fight zombies at night.

my trick for a house is to put it in front of a 4 high clift, make a window facing it, and punch zombies to their fall, of course, get them a way to go back to your window. after a couple of nights, you will be at level 30 from all the xp, and harder to kill (you get 20 bonus hp by level)
