      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

What are some advantages and disadvantages of changing the year length in the configs?

6 posts in this topic

Pretty much the topic title, I was wondering for those of you who mess with this what kinds of changes you see and why you choose to make this change, When 78 comes out (no rush) I will be making a new world and possibly sooner. Thanks in advance. TFC rules!

Because food is already easy enough to get, and the longer year makes it a little more challenging to grow food, though just barely. Also, who wants to live on a planet where there are only 90-some days per year?

hmm, curious too.

I think that they are elements that are sync with the time year, like trees, crops, new borns of your husbandry. So regardless of the configuration, it won't have any effect on them. (I think)

Thanks for the responses guys! I think this will add a more believable element to the game, also making food choices matter more. Now, how can I go about changing this in an already established world, or am I SOL? I think it should be fine, but if I remove my crops and saplings from the ground first would that be a better option?

Eh... well, I never really experienced the issue of having time being crazy on the crops and animals and whatnot when I configured the time to be longer. Make a backup of your world and test it to see if there is any adverse effects.
