      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Different Fishing Rod Recipe!

What if there was a new recipe for fishing rods!? and it would add a new use for lead and maybe bone, steel or brass for a hook.

there could be a weight made of lead, and being a fisherman myself i know what the stuff is :)

this could be a cool use for lead which is at the moment completely useless!

I wouldn't eat something that was probably dead due to lead poisoning .-.

The lead is used as weight so the hook won't float on the surface

The lead does not get eaten by the fish.

 

I'd like a new fishing rod recipe, but using steel/brass for the hook would effectively remove fish as an early food source.

How about hooks made of wood, bone, brass, and steel, and a low tier hook(like wood or bone) has a chance to break when catching a fish, leaving you with a empty pole, no hook, and most likely, no fish. Lead weights and bait can be used to catch more fish, which can be more filling.(ex, no bait and weight gets you tier 1 fish, bait but no weight gets you tier 2, weight but no bait gets you tier 3, and weight and bait gives you tier 4)

Bone hooks sound good natives and ancient people used them so it will fit in TFC nicely!

i don't remember bioxx/dunks stance on fish as a mob rather than an item, but if those ever where to appear then spears would be great for early game fishing.

Here's my brain.

 

Imagine standing on the shoreline waiting for fish to swim in closer, jumping into the water scares them off (impossible to chase) and when the time is right you lunge the spear at them.

 

You could leave it at that and have the player rely on patience, which is fishing in it's essence, or you could make things slightly easier and change rotten flesh to work as a lure.

Throw it into the water and the fish will gather around to eat the flesh. killing zombies for rotten flesh early game is of course impossible but they do drop some when they burn up in the morning.
