      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Fire pit to keep monsters away

I really hate it when I'm standing around at night, usually waiting for some clay to fire, when a zombie comes along and calls at least 3 or 4 other zombies with it. It gets out of hand so quickly that I usually turn it to peaceful just so I don't have to lose my place. However, a fire pit that repels monsters would really help out a lot. After all, hostile animals in real life won't attack because of fire; the monsters should run away like a creeper from a cat. 

 

Also, it should be crafted with 2 cobble and 2 logs, maybe? It needs to be craftable without a workbench; in other words, before you're able to get a saw and actually start building a stable house.

While I like your idea, I think the root problem lies with zombies themselves. I believe the developers have plans for new/improved mobs so hopefully we'll see some balance in the future.

Zombies and Skeletons will move underground eventually, Bears and Wolves will be the new night-time terrors. Naturally, they should be afraid of fire, but in my experience they'd only be scared of it if you waved it in their faces or something. They aren't so scared of fire that they'd run from a campfire, they will approach, however cautiously. But I don't know how you would approach implementing that in the game.

You don't need a new fire pit for this, just make regular campfires do it. It would be cool if the campfire put out light according to its temperature, and provided visual indications too (coals, low flame, high flame)

Apparently there is a bear in the game already? I couldn't find one. I'd love to seen a screenshot.
