      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Right-click to open placed ceramic vessel

8 posts in this topic

I suggest that you should be able to right-click on a ceramic vessel that's been placed on the ground to open its inventory GUI, like you can with chests.

I can't think of any realistic/believable reason you shouldn't be able to rifle through the contents of a ceramic vessel on the ground. Implementing this would save 3-4 steps (clear space on hotbar, sneak-right-click to pick up, sneak-right-click to re-place, maybe move items back to hotbar), unless I'm missing something obvious.

P.S. Is there a "planned features" page somewhere on the forums or the wiki? I can't find one.

This post has a Planned for B79 section: http://terrafirmacraft.com/f/topic/5033-suggestion-directory-look-here-first/

As for being able to open placed ceramic vessels, this is actually a lot more complicated to code than like a chest, because there can be up to four of them within a single block. If you could only place a single vessel within a block, this would be a bit more feasible, but the system gets really complicated really quickly because there are multiples within the single block.

In all honesty, I wouldn't mind one, bigger, maybe 3d vessel that I'd be able to drop and use like a regular chest (though I'd hope that capacity of such would be at least marginally increased then). Even if it would take space for 4 vessels now, I think it'd still be far more practical comfortable in use than how it is now.

Thanks, I had seen that, but I was thinking of a long-term roadmap -- "This is what TFC might look like out of beta." kind of thing.

Sure.

There is no long-term roadmap because even the Bioxx hasn't really planned out that far.

I think the code can be simplified if you allow right clicking a block holding ceramic vessels would open a GUI with the contents for all the vessels in that block, but problems might arise from non-vessel items (jugs, molds, etc).

Maybe the non-vessels represent as a single slot from which you can simply take the item.

EDIT: Hmm, and then you can put correct things back in? If you put a vessel in does it exapnd to show its contents? Yeah, that's getting complicated.

The code to tell which item you're selecting must already exist for sneak-right-clicking, so I'd just stick with one click, one object.

I would love to see larger 3D pots, maybe two different kinds of vessels, the larger one needing significantly more clay but is used like a chest, and the smaller used for ore?
