      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Shouldn't my food be decaying, even at -2C?

5 posts in this topic

I have noticed recently that none of my food is decaying at all.

It is late winter and is pretty much in the minus C all the time (I'm at -14k latitude).

I have a chest full of meat (pig/cow), some fruit, and some more meat I carry about - After at least 20 days none of it has any decay whatsoever.

From everything I'm reading, it should only be slowed, not stopped altogether?

Or is the fact it's freezing prolonging indefinitely?

I've checked my cfg file, it's definitely on (all settings are default).

Ok I've kind of answered the question.

Early spring just hit, temperature is 0.6 - just noticed my food now has a decay bar!

Ok cool so you can indeed completely freeze food if it's below 0C it seems.

Well, makes sense, and I actually like the fact that decay is completely stopped in case of frozen food (not completely accurate in relation to realism, but type of simplification that actually makes the game more enjoyable). I wouldn't mind it if frozen food would have to be prepared/warmed up before being edible, though to slightly balance the advantages of freezing edibles.

Either way, question answered, problem solved, thread loses it's point.

God fucking damn it I love this game. This game makes Minecraft an actual experience with items, resources, space that actually matters. So I can make a fridge on a high enough mountain. Awesome.
