      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Temperatures

5 posts in this topic

So, I was making a basement for storage right under my house and after digging all up I started looking for low temps to place all my food there... Then, I noticed an entire wall had a temperature 25% lower than the hottest place I found, even though I had all the basement with torches... After a while after testing this, I found out something weird: if you are against a wall facing south (I assume it's because the equator is there for me) the temperature lowers 25%, as if you were on a completely dark hole... Just wanted to know if this is some kind of bug or something :P

Some pics of this I took outside:

PS: Had no idea where to post this, so move it if it doesn't belong here please. :P

For outside I think it shows air temperatures in the shadow and under direct sunlight assuming the sun is on the south.

If everything else is equal, away from light sources the apparent temperature is lower. (See debug screen f3).

That's most probably because your head was inside the block, and inside the block is complete darkness, and 25% cooler.

Could happen, but it shouldn't change the temperature as if it was complete darkness. Besides, this happened anywhere... Just dig a 2 deep hole (so your head is "covered" from the south in this case) and it will do the trick.

On all pictures I have the debug screen open. On the first two you can see I'm on the exact same position, same lighting and time. The only difference is the thatch block right next to my head, since the debug screen shows the info of the block your head is in.

If I my head was on a block to cause complete darknes I would suffocate, otherwise it would be a transparent one and therefore light would go through.. :/
