      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Documentation/Goal Aspect.

4 posts in this topic

I have a documentation idea for TFC. Basically everything you see is recorded in a book that you can look back on.

This idea is a more complex form of achievements, but much better. Basically as you pick up an item, it unlocks information about that item. If you see a mob and get close enough, it also unlocks information about it. This would be recorded in a book which would be locked onto your inventory. Reading this book could give you useful hints as to what to do with the items, and also give you a sense of exploration. E.g. "I'm gonna become a botanist and discover every plant in tfc.. yay"

This could practically give you a goal. And that goal being to discover every material in the game.

The other alternative is that you need to put abit of time into researching the item, but that might make the game to slow paced, making people not bother with the book.

While, this might be a bit too much for beta, when we don't know entirely what items will go and stay, it has potential?

Welcome to the forums!

I would suggest that you read the RULES FOR POSTING SUGGESTIONS and edit your post and the title to comply, it'll put you in the good books and save the wiki admin the trouble of editing (deleting) a lot of your post. Suggestions are encouraged but try they try to keep things organized around here.

Now that the title is fixed, I also want to suggest that the front page of the book should be TFC's tech tree, achievement style. People will see that lumber, stones, and ores are the sources of many things ranging from stone axe to blast furnace. There would be lines everywhere, but by clicking the icon, you would get an explanation, with an uncluttered tree showing only those which connect to the item. All food except cheese are out from the main tech tree. Newbs could look at pro's book, and maybe copy all information from the book into his.

I like the idea but it should in my opinion be something manual. And not to indept because terrafirmacraft is to big for that for the basics to be explained you need the wiki for that anyway. What this book could do is give you info on what you can find in discoverd rocks, tell you alloy persentages and info about crops under the seeds ect. You should get info you have to look back on, not basic info so it can contribute to the gameplay. Having to check the wiki all the time is not ideal but it might be something that comes with minecraft.
