      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Rainwater

5 posts in this topic

After reading other ppl's ideas on how to turn water more usefull (by adding thirst and turning the sea water in to salty water for metalurgy or whatever...) was wondering, what if you got spawned in an island surrounded by hundred miles of sea and no source of freshwater in it?

So my idea is that you could collect the rainwater using bowls (making them a placeable item wouldn't be so hard) at first, just so you could survive the first few days, and then, later on evolution path, you could make big wood/stone boxes to store enough water to last for weeks... Actually, you don't have to be in an island, even in swamps, that usualy has bacteria infested waters, or deserts.

Another idea I had that is kinda related to the whole water colecting thing, is melting snow to make it drinkable. And all that, ofc, leads to think about disinfecting water by boiling it, but that idea I'll leave for you guys to work on.

i think this is intresting, and although i am against the idea of outright finite water in tfcraft, if he implements finite water then melting snow could turn into a q/16 block of water instead of disapearing, this would eventualy build up and run down hills and cliff and could be easily collected, and if you make snow blocks then you should be able to melt them down into water, good thinking man

+1, ever play lost without a phone on iOS? uses a similar idea, great game. I love the idea of realistic survival like this.

Great idea, mate! I believe the combination of collecting rainwater, melting snow, boiling freshwater, and the ability to get a small amount of water from cacti in deserts, should allow for a balanced water and thirst system across all biomes.

that and maybe being able to use their spikes for traps of stuff like that would also make'em more usefull, 'cause right now, they are only good for making anti-spider walls, and they look rly ugly =/

the cactus I mean
