      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

A few suggestions of my own

7 posts in this topic

First of all, I love the mod. I've always made my own mods before, I understand it can be hard to add suggestions to your mod. It's your baby, I get it, I wont be angry if you don't use my suggestions, but I hope it will inspire you! :)

1) Make arrowheads. (If you wanna get fancy you can do small and large arrowheads depending on the target animal. IE: hitting a cow with a large arrow head will hurt more then a the small, but hitting a chicken with a large arrow will allow the chicken to dodge it quickly or something.)

2) Tie horses to a mill (The quern version of a forge) or connect a watermill/windmill to the mill to make the later game process become easier.

3) Add some herbs to the game too adding to the taste of food.

4) Animal hoppers, instead of having to feed all you flock so they don't become wild again, simply put food in the hopper that will attract all the flock until they are feed. Each animal would eat a certain amount.

5) Granary, to make grain last longer.

6) Lumbermill. You stick logs in, and get lumber out.

7) Salt water can go into a vessel and then baked to make salt, OR you can use a bowl.

I just want to justify these, because I feel like they can easily be tossed aside as "Making the game easy", and "Defeating the purpose". Grain is SO important in ancient history and in TFC. Feeding animals thus is important. Making bread is easy, but no one wants to sit at a quern when they can have something do it for them. Obviously Wind mills would be hard to make thats a LOT of hide. Water mills would be slightly easier to build, and finally the easiest is to get a horse to do it for you.

Animal hoppers are an excellent idea. It's hard to keep track of the animals and a way to feed the flock without standing there and physically feeding them is better. A Lumbermill is something I would LOVE to see added. It doesn't have to be big or anything, but something where you can stick a bunch of logs into it and get lumber. It doesn't even have to be a machine. I'd even like a quern type things for this. Not sure how they ran them in ancient times but, I'm sure they didn't just have one guy in town that took a saw to every log.

Anyways I think these additions would make the game even more fun without compromising the point of the game.

There has been an emphatic NO to the making of salt from salt-water for balance reasons. The lumbermill is actually a bit ahead of TFC tech- as far as I know people have continued manually sawing logs up until the 1940s in rural areas- even if that technology was available in the timeframe of TFC, it wouldn't be had in such 'remote' survival locations. The arrowheads seem like they would add tedium to the game- not if they were a simple crafting recipe in the 2x2, but since I know the devs insist on using knapping with stone tools i'm going to vote against that.

I think herbs might be coming. They hinted at it when talking about the food update, but it hasn't appeared yet. Then again, neither have casseroles.

I don't know about the others, you'll have to wait for a dev. I like the animal hopper Idea.

Maybe your right about a lumbermill, I guess I was thinking of wood splitting not making lumber.I didn't know about the salt idea, but makes sense. And I personally like napping. Theres also no reason why you can't use a spear or knife.

7) When salt is rare and you are surrounded by sea, this makes so much sense. Salt is so important for keeping foods.

Knapping is great, but you need a lot of arrows for them to be effective. It's ok to knap a knife or a spear because they have some reuseability and aren't wasted. However, spending an inordinate amount of time individually knapping arrowheads would be very bothersome, unless the knapping recipe allowed you to make a lot at once. This is already semi-evident with the spear- because it has low damage and is basically a one-time use item, people don't bother with knapping javelin heads in the stone age. If knapping the javelin head gave two spear heads, I could see that being viable. But when you can use the same amount of rocks for a knife which has more versatility, often works better as a weapon because it doesn't break, and you get two of, javelins just aren't worth it. i wouldn't want to see arrows go the same way,

True, but I feel like this makes more sense. If they're going to use napping then it should be all across the board. Native Americans spent a long time knapping arrow heads. 1 rock could give out 4 arrow heads and I feel like that would be perfectly fine. one stick and one feather gives 4 arrow shafts. It's viable.Maybe the arrow heads are just a pain in the ass for the community. I get that. But personally I love knapping as an idea, and I think more of it should be integrated if possible!
