      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Fertilizer Question

3 posts in this topic

I found fertilizer in mid summer of my 1st year and decided to use it on my crops in hopes they would mature before winter. I know some of them were planted late because of when I found them and thought it might speed up the process since they showed as low in one category. After fertilizing, it doesn't show the missing nutrient being replaced, it just gets a yellow box under the 3 bars of nutrients. I was just wondering if someone could explain this to me. I was also wondering if the fertilizer really does anything. The nutrients are gone in such a short time and plants spend the majority of their time with one bar at almost 0. I saw no difference in the ones I fertilized and the ones I didn't after 3 months of growth. None of them matured before winter.

Either way, here's what it showed after I use it. Could someone please explain the image to me?

Are you using default config values for year length?

The way that fertilizer works is that it does indeed do what you see as the big yellow box. This box is all of the other 3 nutrients in one, and depleting any of the three depletes the whole box, instead of the individual bar. Once the entire box has been depleted, it goes back to depleting the individual bars.

Also, what is the temperature in your area? It's possible that it's warm enough for your crops to be alive, but too cold for them to actually grow.

I have my year length set to 192 days. I am around 11k z coordinate. I know I planted things too late because of the time it took me to find them. But the nutrients drained in just a month or so. I was just hoping the fertilizer would allow some of them to finish. Most of them did not and I ended up picking everything after a cold night that made a few turn into seeds on the ground.

I do see the line in the yellow box now around the edge. Is that the nutrient level it is showing dropping? I just wasn't sure if something was wrong since the main 3 nutrients never went back up. It makes sense now. Thanx.

As for fertilizer, I didn't fertilize until I had gotten enough skill to see the nutrient levels. By then, they had all about run out on the main one each plant uses. Is it better to fertilize at the beginning before they deplete the nutrients? or is it ok to do it after they have dropped?

As for the temp, i think the average biome temp reads around 10 degrees. It actually just dropped below 10 in late autumn for the 1st time. It was nearing 30 degrees in mid summer.
