      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Tool quality names (related to smithing skill)

3 posts in this topic

So, as we make more tools, weapons and armour our smithing skills go up, and our tools have more durability. In the instance of a multiplayer forge shop it might be nice for tools to have names for their quality, so instead of signs saying a Steel Axe has ~#### durability, it could say Basic Steel Axe, or Fine Steel Axe dependent on whether it was smithed at 0-25% skill, 25-50% and so on. Initially I was going to say whether it was made by a novice or adept toolsmith, but since an average is taken from tools/general that would have been a little inaccurate.

It's only a minor tweak, but it would help maintain a little immersion with roleplaying rather than going for exact stats.

Technically role playing servers can already do this, and just set up their own standards. Throw a quality on a sign, and put that sign on a chest with tools of that quality inside. Generally speaking, you'll still have to trust that the smith isn't lying when they label it, but if you don't trust the smith you can always check yourself with F3+H, or mods that show durability. I realize that you can't see durability unless the axe has taken at least 1 point of damage, but I would assume smiths that are selling for quality are already doing that.

Basically, tooltips on items are cluttered enough as it is, and it makes stuff like localisation a complete nightmare.
