      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Yes but some of us want to see oh character grow on something aside from technology. Plus in an SMP server it would help tremendously. Minecraft by itself is already rpg-like, with bulls*** xp used for enchanting. Something in Skyrim could be done Where you pick perks associated to the skill. Keep in mind the person doesn't level up, just their skill in the selected trade.

Look... this is already well established. Steve doesn't grow in minecraft. Do you know why? Because YOU are steve. YOU are expected to grow over the course of playthrough. Do you know why there's no 'perk' to make you a better smith? Because as you learn what combination of punches and hit make the tools best, slowly making tools with less and less damage on them, you become a better smith. Steve is just a blank effigy - a screen for the player to project themselves onto. The XP they added was just so they could balance their bullshit enchanting mechanic, it doesn't in any way represent steve gaining any real experience.

We need to change the name "experience" it leads you to believe this a RPG and its not. EternalUndeath nailed it on the head we learn not Steve.

Smithing is the only exception. You can't personally get better at chopping down a tree or harvesting wheat, for the simple fact that all you can do is left click and you have your wheat or logs. We want special bonuses for doing those tedious things in game, because if Steve were real, he will eventually gain more saplings and sticks from his inherent knowledge of woodcutting, or he might get some extra wheat because he knows how to squeeze every last resource from the crops.

How we get wheat and such will most likely be getting changed in later updates. People will need to learn how to farm because wheat and such will die in the winter when it gets too cold. Your reward for learning this will not be increased drops, but you will figure out when and how to plant for the best efficiency and to get the highest yield back from what you do plant. As for woodcutting, there's only so many ways you can make a tree fall down. The only way IRL that you make trees fall 'better' is by cutting them so they fall away from important stuff, which is irrelevant in minecraft since you just get item drops. As for your rates, the scythe and saw you can craft greatly increase the speed and efficiency of getting the wood you need.

As has been stated by SEVERAL people now, this idea is cluttered, useless, creates an unwanted separation of player and character, and is just in general a piss-poor idea that should not be added to an otherwise excellent mod.
