      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Repair

4 posts in this topic

I have but one suggestion. Repairing equipment. When a warrior's armor is punctured or weapon broken he will take it to a smith who will remove the one damaged plate replace it with a new one and hammer out any dents and repair weapons usually reforging them if the material had become weak. I'm not saying that we need to implement broken armor and weapon items I'm just asking if we can take a copper bar or double bar to repair a piece of armor instead of having to remake the armor after it breaks and waste eight bars of materials or a single piece for damaged weapons. Tools I'm less interested about since it only takes one bar to make them but anything that takes multiple especially armor should be able to be reforged and repaired. If this is already in somewhere awesome if not I hope you take a serious look at it.

I'm not a fan of a tool gaining a magical bonus just because its used and repaired a lot. While that is a cool idea I like one that is more in the realm of plausible instead of magical. In my opinion it isn't the enchantment that makes an item special its the history and when you spend a lot of time with a weapon you begin to grow fond of it no matter what it is. I also agree with one of the posts in your topic "Very misleading" lol I would've never guessed it was asking about repair as well instead of asking for jeweled or enchanted weapons.

It's mostly a gameplay incentive for not losing your tools. Keeping your tools longer in order to make them stronger through repair also increases the death penalty. You can think of the increased durability as the result of the faults in the tools being gradually worked out through repeated crafting until it's perfect.

Usually gameplay mechanics are metaphors that simplify the way things normally work in real life. Sometimes they're just mechanics designed to make things more worthwhile. I tried to swing for both.

And what I suggested (concerning repair) was supposed to work outside of any enchantment system, in case you're confused with something else I may have said elsewhere.
