      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Description:

First of all, hello everyone.

I was doing some metalworking and got this bug...

The steps I did was:

* Heat a metal bar or get a metal bar from an vessel and and place it on bar mold

* Place it on a anvil with everything ready to work (Flux and Hammer)

* Select the tool design you wish to work

* Don't do any hammering or modeling on the metal

* Take it out and wait it for cool down or put it in a water source

* It won't be possible to place it on the ground or even group it with "placeble" metal bars

Note: This metal bar with problem, don't have the hint saying "This metal has been worked" and it dont stack with any bar who has been worked before

I don't know if this is a expected behavor, because when I just selected the tool design it's like if I just wrote on a paper the layout of the tool I wish to work...

Btw, It happen on every type of metal (Copper, Gold, Steel, Red Steel, etc...)

Thank you and sorry for my bad english  ^_^

This isn't a bug. When you select a plan it adds NBT data to the ingot. This data stays unless you melt the ingot and reform it. It is the same reason that ingots can't be stacked if they still have temperature data.

The been worked tooltip is linked to nbt data related to where the arrow is in anvil GUI.

Got it. Just to be clear, what means NBT?

But the way it's now dont looks good, because in my inventory it will look as same as the other metal bars. It dont give any hint

that someone selected a plan for this bar, I think that the worked tooltip whould be a good solution for this case so anyone dont think that's a bug.

NBT is Named Binary Tag, which is a type of data that minecraft uses. There are 2 main (I think only) types of data applied to items/blocks. Meta data, which is the :1 or :2 that is after the item ID. And then their is extra data that is on there. It does everything from saying which armour a zombie is wearing to how fast it moves. It is what does enchantments and potion effects.

This is probably the best solution to add the worked tag. Kitty will have to decide that, I was just stating that it wasn't a bug.

So I can't reproduce this. The moment I take the ingot out of the anvil the NBT data is gone and once it cools the ingot stacks normally with everything else.

Edit: I'd also like to point out that selecting a plan actually does not add any NBT data to the ingot. The location of the red arrow and the plan that is selected is all stored within the anvil tile entity, and not the item.

The anvil did however attempt to add NBT for the location of the green arrow to the input every time the screen was drawn, but this was only ever done client-side and therefore the NBT data disappeared the moment the ingot was taken out of the anvil inventory. This unnecessary adding of the tag has been removed from the next version, but I doubt it was the cause of this unreproducible bug.

Kitty,

Did u tried to reproduce this with the release 79.26 or with the lastest build from repo?

When I came home from the work I will create again a clean install and try to reproduce again, maybe I'll record a video to you see the steps I did...

Thank you anyway

I tested with both the release and in my development environment. From what I can tell, it does look like the issue was with the fact that the anvil tries to add an NBT tag to the input every time the screen is drawn if a plan has ever been selected during that session that the interface is open. After selecting a plan on the first ingot, any ingot that you put in the anvil that is the same metal will have the stacking issue, and all of those will stack together. Once you close the interface, the anvil resets and you can put more ingots of the same metal in and nothing will happen to them.

Either way, it looks like the fix for removing that also fixes this, so I'm just going to mark this as solved.

Thank you Kitty!

I'll look to the next release and try to see if I got the same problem...
