      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Backpacks

Now lots of you would use the backpack mod... I know I do but it just doesn't feel TF Craftish enough for me so why not a back pack slot and back pack system that works similar to the one id DayZ. You would still have your standard inventory but you would have a backpack slot (not breastplate slot) that you could equip backpacks of different sizes.

Btw the backpack system from DayZ is cool too! i did think on skyrim :)

Thanks. Truly Dayz and TF Craft are trying to do the same thing... Make the most realistic game of its type while keeping it fun at the same time.

I'd think it kind of neat if you spawned with a full-sized backpack (standard inventory size) and climate appropriate clothing--but only if you needed a backpack to hold more than nine stacks of items, and not wearing any clothing made you more susceptible to things in the environment. (IE: Poisoning brushing against certain bushes, hypothermia and so on...)

That's a good idea and for PvP you could colour the cloths and weir them over armour so you can see how your fighting with and against.

i agree with the whole starting witha backpack but maybe it would only be the size of a single chest or less but if you take it off/remove it from your inventory, you would only have two or three inventory slots because you can only hold a couple of things in your hands without some sort of bag

when you die, your whole inventory wont be puked up all over the place, but your backpack drops on the ground as a block maybe and you go pick it up but after a while it'l dissapear

also, you can upgrade/make better backpacks that hold more or last longer when dropped

Yea i like the idea about the backpack will have all your inventory and its not your player,

Also looting from other peoples backpack is an awesome idea! "if you like hardcore/pvp/survival"

And the idea about making better backpacks is great too!

That's a good idea and for PvP you could colour the cloths and weir them over armour so you can see how your fighting with and against.

I like pvp, and being able to change color! Will be an great advantage when i sneak up on people!

but the colored clothes would be made of something like wool or cotton or some other kind of cloth so they wouldnt provide extra protection against the cold or heat like specialized clothing would

also i agree with spawning with some kind of clothes on but im not sure if it's possible to make the game detect which biome you spawn in and thus provide you with the necessary clothes for that sort of biome

or, you could start with some kind of generic all-purpose clothing that would protect you from heat and cold but wouldn't be quite as effective as heavy furs for cold and desert clothing for heat

Yes well if the PvP multi-server thing takes off (I hope it will) and with any luck my Age of Empires style age system takes off as well it will work out so good with the bags and cloths.

You could have coloured versions of the specialized cloths as there are unlimited ITEM IDs

Starting backpacks could be made with reeds(straw), upgrade to wool, upgrade to leather, upgrade to leather plus single metal sheets(reinforced), upgrade to double metal sheet, even more options for higher tier metal sheets. Lots of possibilities here. Maybe even once you get to metals you reach max backpack size but then alloys give special attributes like longer water breathing or faster walking etc.

Same could be done with chests for storage... different tiers you have to work up to.
