      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

improve prospectors pick

10 posts in this topic

well, the prospectors pick not help too much, if u found traces of some metals its impossible to get it, maybe we can get another tool like metal detector with sound and when we are more and more close of the metal the sound can be more repetitive.

No.

Prospector's pick does just fine for finding ores if you know how to use it. I can go from 'traces' to mining out a 'very large sample' in less than 10 minutes.

wow...

some people just do not read.

Take a look at the thread about the prospectors pick stuck permanently to the top of this board by the mod creator, jeez...

FIRST: they already suggested it. Before any suggestion, take a look in the forum, 'cause it isn't impossile to find someone else who suggested what you wanna say before you.

SECOND: Bioxx already said he's not making the prospector pick better, at all.

THIRD: Bioxx said he's not implementing any tecnology from the past 4-5~ centuries -not sure ._.-, the metal detector was invented in the 1960s.

EDIT: Also, i think metal detectors can only find iron, because it works on magnetism. So, it would be useless, except for finding magnetite and other iron related ores.

well most metal detecters work via reverse polarisation, which means that when the magnetic feild given off by the detector hits something metallic, the feild is weaked at that point. the weaker area is picked up by the onbourd computer which generates a tone telling the user theres something there thats metallic. it doesn t matter if the object is magnetic, as the device picks up traces of anything metallic

oh, ok. well, then just ignore that last edit ._. the rest is not really affected at all.

why so mad? my apologies about this topic, idk why when i search in the forum the sticks dont appears and i dont see it.

btw... I understand that it is difficult, but how many blocks down and up should I find from the start point prospected? I know it is 12 blocks in radius horizontal.

thx all.

Simple really, the pick tells you where the ore is NOT.

So if you get large quantities on a place, mine west and east.

Place torches where you find medium.

Between those torches lays teh treasure!

Then It's a matter of up or down.

Sometimes you'll have to check north and south too.

(you can do north/south first, I was just making a example)

After a few times you'll master it.

If you find two ores near each other?

Get creative!

How the hell did you not read the only pinned post in this entire sub-forum?!

Sometimes I mix up my torches with the torches I place for ore markers. I think I am going to start using redstone now that I found Cinnabar.

I usually check the blocks on the ground as I tunnel. If I find a sample, I will then do the block on the ceiling of my tunnel. If it goes from medium to small then I know the sample is down. If it stays medium then just dig up(use supports!) and try propick again until you locate the vertical center.

The propick doesn't tell you how big an ore vein is, just how much it found in the 8000+ blocks around it. Gold is a serious problem for me because when I find it, it is usually in 4-6 block samples all over the place so is hard to narrow down each individual piece. It will say medium sample of gold but be spread everywhere. Same with silver but not quite as bad, I just find less "samples" of it. Am I the only one who has this problem with gold and silver?
