      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

You're probably running out of memory. What OS are you using? Is it 64 or 32 bit? How much RAM does your computer have?

Edit: You should also update to 78.17 unless you have it installed because a server is using it, in which case I would recommending telling your server admin to update.

Yeah, TFC really needs at least 1GB of RAM allocated to it in order to run smoothly. Unfortunately the maximum amount of RAM that a 32bit OS can allocate is 1GB. So at the very best, your system can only handle the bare minimum.

You can try editing your profile on the launcher and checking the box that says "JVM Arguments:" and then deleting anything you have in the text field and copying this in there:

-Xmn1G -Xms1G -Xmx1G -XX:NewSize=512M -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:+CMSIncrementalPacing -XX:+AggressiveOpts

Hopefully that will help at least a little bit until you can get a better computer.

Actually, you can sometimes squeeze a little more out from the 32 bit OS, I have managed to get 1400M, while not much more than the typical gig, it has made TFC more runable. You just have to play with settings a bit and find out exactly what you can pull off.

If you have a 64 bit system, you'll need to double check that you have the latest update of Java 7 in the 64 bit version installed. Java 8 is not compatible with Minecraft 1.6.4. You'll also need to go into your control panel and to the Uninstall a Program screen and make sure that you only have the single version of java installed. If you have more than one copy in there, get rid of them.

If you did this correctly, the only java-related thing you will see on that screen is "Java 7 Update 67 (64-bit)". If it doesn't have the (64-bit) part in the name, then it is 32 bit java and you installed the wrong one.
