      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Simple "playability" changes.

Very interesting. I look forward to seeing what you can do with that. My own suggestions: 1) travel options: boats and ships would be fantastic since the oceans are so vast (look to Cuchaz'sships mod for a really good implementationhttp://www.cuchazinteractive.com/ships/) Various carts with various capacities from a hand cart to one which needs donkeys or even horses to pull. This also makes for a good reason to build roads. 2) a real technology progression in armor and weapons: Copper can only make the basics - javelin, hammer, dagger/knife, axe. Linen gambesons and round shields are the extent of armor. (of course, we would need flax in the game to make linen. hint, hint.) Bronze can be used to make a shortsword and some basic armor - breastplate, helm, shin guards. Tower shields are available. Iron begins to accelerate tech, can now make better weapons like the broadsword, warhammer, battleaxe, and poleaxe. Mail and heater shields can now be crafted. Longbow comes in. Perhaps some basic quality of life devices now. Steel gets to the endgame of technology - longswords, halberds, war axes. Full plate becomes available. Things like powered (by wind, water, or livestock) bellows and anvil hammer become available. Recurves and crossbows come in. 3) Coinage made from precious metals (platinum, gold, silver, copper) to support player economies. Gives a sink for some of it and a use for platinum. 4) Different kinds of meals, not just salad and sandwich. Soups/stews and platters would be a good addition. Just some random ramblings at 4AM. See if any of it sticks.
  2. [1.7.10] TerraFirmaCiv - The Beginning

Journeymap is almost essential. TerraMisc and NEI are really good plugins to have too. I've also managed to make Cuchaz's ships mod work for me.
  3. TFC Twitch Stream "Terra-fidda Wut?"

Seriously? I think my voice is awful and annoying. LOL
  4. TFC Twitch Stream "Terra-fidda Wut?"

Episode 4 will be Monday, Sept. 12 at 10 PM Pacific.
  5. TFC Twitch Stream "Terra-fidda Wut?"

Thanks for the feedback and the follow, ChunkHunter! Here's the Minetweaker recipes: Enjoy
  6. So I've begun doing a live Twitch stream for TFC and I've completed an introduction and 3 episodes so far. It's not great. I'm really, really new to streaming and have had a few technical difficulties, but I'm getting there. I'm approaching it from the perspective of a Let's Play for people who might not have played or even heard of TFC before. Due to my job, I can't really make a regular weekly schedule, so it more or less happens when I have the time, but I'll try to make a post here a day in advance to announce the time. http://www.twitch.tv/gwtheyrnif you're interested. Look in the Highlights section for previous episodes.
  7. Updating to 1.8 &1.9

That's Microsoft in a nutshell. I suspect that they want to do away with the modding community so they have total control over content. They're like that.
  8. How are you guys dealing with caves?

Not in my experience. I find that if I take out a second block above my horizontal beam, I tend to get caveins. Here, from the wiki: A single horizontally placed support beam will prevent cave-ins in an area that is 4 blocks in each horizontal direction, and 1 block above and below the beam (9x9x3 Area).
  9. Brass

Bearings, fittings, bushings, etc. Brass is used pretty extensively in industry. My firehose nozles at work are usually made of brass, too. If you're going to ask for advice and suggestions to a problem, I'd think you'd be a bit more gracious when receiving it, even if it wasn't what you're looking for. Redundant or not, I think the decorative brass suggestion is by far the most elegant solution I've seen because it doesn't rely on someone reading a webpage or assuming that they understand metallurgy enough to know that brass is not historically used for tools.
  10. Oh my gosh. This is amazing. This is something that I've specifically felt TFC was lacking and needed.
  11. [0.79.29] DarkAgeCraft Off Line

Minecraft user name: Gwtheyrn Your Age: 36 Your Time Zone: Pacific (-8 GMT) Location Country and State: USA, WA Tell us a bit about yourself: I'm an older Minecraft player, since early alpha, and I've been doing TFC since high 40s builds, if I recall correctly. I got out of it for a little while, but I'm looking to get casually involved in multiplayer again. I'm a parent and I work full time, but I can dedicate a few hours a week. Looking for a cooperative experience more than a competitive one. How can you help us: Though it's hardly a unique skill, I am really good at prospecting. I guess you could say I'm a pro with the pro pick. I used to be pretty good at smithing in previous builds too, though I haven't done it much yet with the current or recent builds. I've run a few servers in the past and partook in an old TFC let's play series. Outside of this, I suppose what I bring the most is an older voice to add into the mix.
  12. Should TFC give more support to other playstyles?

Nothing is really stopping you from playing it however you like.
  13. I am missing reasons to build a shelter

For me, I build because inevitably, zombies, spiders, and skellies wander over.
  14. A Hard Lesson to Learn

And there it rose as though some fiendish sorcery had mashed my two greatest horrors together. I trembled in its presence as my sanity frayed along the edges of the long rent seams within my mind.
  15. [TFC 0.79.17] Lanterns Addon for TFC

This has been so awesome. Thank you.
