      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Research as indication of progress

Exactly. Research fits in games where: A) there is no otherwise limiting factor from endgame resources. the game is not immersive. In Civilization V, for example, if you could build Giant Death Robots from the get-go, wouldn't you? TerraFirmaCraft has a natural limitation: You're not going to have any blue steel until you already are an accomplished miner and smith, we don't need an additional limiting mechanice. Also, research implies you're actually learning anything, unlike Thaumcraft 3 (despite being a VAST improvement on Thaumcraft 2) where once you know the right aspects it's basically luck and resources.
  2. Food Spoilage - A Comprehensive Summary

Yea Ok, that works for me. Just wondering, is spoilt or spoiled correct, I've seen both.
  3. Tree Grafting

Well regardless, it's certainly derailed the thread, and you haven't done much to bring it back.Anyway, As I see it, tree grafting would involve adding a sapling to an existing tree. While it would be cool, I don't see the point as you could just plant another tree, as fruit trees grow fast enough that an improvement is probably not necessary (although I would use it anyway).
  4. Time Settings

There's a difference between "I don't follow that rule because I don't believe in it" and "I choose not to follow that rule because it's inconvenient." Now, Grammar Nazism aside, is everyone clear what I meant?Good. Now, in the off topic forums, I'd love to have a long chat about which grammar rules are worth following on the Internet. But not here, and not now.
  5. Time Settings

Then you write wrong. Here are sample sentences. He said, "the cat ate the rat". WRONG He said, "the rat ate the cat." CORRECT
  6. Time Settings

English grammar states that punctuation be placed inside quotation marks. That does not mean they get included. Here is what I intended: Spontaneous Combustible
  7. Colonial Technology

Some of us might(read: after studying CS for another 3 or so years) create an addon for basic machining. I've argued in the past that minecraft isn't a game; it's a modding platform. Hopefully TFC can become that eventually.
  8. Time Settings

Oh okay. Can I have 'spontaneous combustible?' I'm using combustible in the noun sense of something that combusts. If that's too strange, 'spontaneously combustible' uses it in the adjective sense. Whichever makes more sense to you, thanks.
  9. Colonial Technology

I don't think it was the aforementioned dragon. Might have been the fish though.
  10. Colonial Technology

Would you like me to develop the constructions?I'm really interested in Multiblocks recently.
  11. I'm a little bit confused. Are you defining what constitutes roads, etc. or do to have to configure it, or both? Because I could see having an interesting time defining trees as the only spaces where mobs could spawn. Cow trees, anyone?
  12. Tree Grafting

Why so many one-liners? You should do stand-up comedy.
  13. Both of these: food spoiling and butchery were hot button issues a while ago, search harder. I'm currently working on a summary thread that I hope will address this in more detail.
  14. Time Settings

I didn't know that.P.S. was a supposed to PM you about the title changing thing? Copper Minor is hilarious btw.
  15. That is really embarrassing. I meant 3. Minimum/minimum=3. Maximum/maximum=3. Maximum/minimum=4. Sorry.
  16. The complete range weapon revamp

I don't think it's worth adding a new crafting block just for that (honestly I don't understand the metallurgy table). EDIT:it's a fauxrnace.
  17. Better HUD

    I know...Back in my day...
  18. Suport beams and their chandge

That was my post. Crysyn said it was coming and locked it.
  19. No Durability / Weapon Sharpening

I have two comments. 1. Swords should have a chance of breaking based on how long they've been used(maybe not) and their sharpness. Read: more force is required to hit someone with a full sword. 2. And I think this had already been said, but they're should be a way to add enchantments/improvements to a sword to actually make it worth it to keep a sword.
  20. Back on topic, however. How many small ores does it take to make a large one? A small ore is 1/9 to 1/12 of an ingot. A large ore is 1/3 to 1/4 of an ingot. So that's 4 I think?
  21. Birds. (and other atmosphere things)

How would that work?Haha very funny.
  22. Thank you. I'll be installing that.
  23. Really like this. Maybe remove butterfly drinking now?
  24. I was plotzing around in a cheaty survival world before and I time set 0 just to set it to day (lazy friends wouldn't sleep) and I noticed that this set it back to March 1st, year 1000 (year starts in March? okay). Not wanting this, I tried to add about 10 months of year to the time to get it back to October, so my olives would fruit. However, this (since i did /time add, not /time set) drained all of our hunger to 0, killed all of my crops, and starved all of my friends. When we spawned in steaks, we ate them and immediately watched our hunger drain away again. I stood in water until I drowned and didn't get my thirst back. I am asking for a set day command that simply simulates all players being in a bed.
  25. Well hello there people. I am back for the 5th time. It's been probably about a year so most likely no one remembers me except eternal. Hi eternal. By the way how did you get that fancy title, I be looking for one of those. But down to the meat (pun intended) of the suggestion (also if this has already been suggested please flame me. jk don't) With the addition of barrels of liquid and the time- and effort-intensiveness of cooking, I'm looking for alternative way to give my sister more ingredients to make me OP meals with. My suggestion is as follows. Add a crafting recipe for a hammer and rock salt that yields salt. Then add a barrel recipe that puts salt in water to create salt water. Then finally, add a group of barrel recipes that accept raw meats and create cured beef/pork/chicken/mutton/fish. Also it has not escaped my notice that oceans in fact consist of salt water, it is potentially an option to have a saltwater liquid that is identical in water in every way except that the oceans are made of salt water. Also, maybe, drinking saltwater could replenish a bit of thirst, but would then cause your thirst to decrease faster. On a related note, sugar should be able to be used in meals.
