      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Wooden buckets and barrel liquids

Hmmm... I was just noticing the "exploit" aspect last night. I've just started a new world and I made a large pot to use as a backpack. Without thinking about the fact that large pots can hold water I filled a bunch of jugs and put them in the pot. However, I discovered that if you put a full jug in the top left slot it will empty into the large pot. Seeing my large pot filling with water I decided that it might be better to simply use it to carry water. Nope. A large pot with eight full jugs and one small pot as a place-holder carries three more jugs worth of water than if you simply filled the large pot with water. I would like to make it known that I'm not complaining, just confirming the "exploit."
  2. Croaking Frogs

I've been using frogs as an alarm clock at night. I make a little cubbyhole out of logs right next to a pond and I don't even have to leave a window open because when the frogs stop croaking it's time to get up.
  3. The Workshop

I don't understand why that was such an issue. I had a plantation with a large farm house. I ended up with an extra door. I leaned it against the wall in the basement. Like I'd have done in real life. The end.
  4. Hrm. That's strange. It seems they think it happens when you change the mipmap levels but changing the mipmap levels fixes the problem for me. However, it only fixes it temporarily. It doesn't matter what setting I leave it on, if I close the game and reopen it I have to switch the mipmap in order to get rid of the glitch. So I can set it to high or off and it won't matter either way. Not the end of the world but it's a bit silly.
  5. This macbook pro is only a month or so old. It has an intel Iris Pro 1536 MB under the graphics section of "about this mac." I'll check out your suggestions momentarily. Switching from fast to fancy and back didn't do anything but turning off mipmapping seems to have fixed the issue. What is mipmapping? Do I need it?

  7. Yeah, that's all that's there.
  8. As an aside; Bunsan and Kitty, you guys have been really awesome with your help. TFCraft version: 0.79.20.710 Forge version: 10.13.4.1448 JourneyMap version: 5.1.0 No other mods installed. I'm not using a resource pack unless one can accidentally use one. I'm gonna load up TFCraft and take some screen shots. Alright... the problem seems to have disappeared. If it recurs I'll take some screen shots and post them. Thanks again for your help!
  9. Oh boy. Okay... so I have both Java 6 and Java 8. They seem to be behaving. Java 6 opened minecraft's launcher. Java 8 is running TFCraft. AND JourneyMap is working. However, now all sticks and rocks look like white blobs both on the ground and in my inventory. That wasn't like that before.
  10. Oy. I must have misunderstood. Alright, got Java 6 back, launcher is working. Now let me go over your instructions once more.
  11. If I type into the console the command: /usr/libexec/java_home it says that I'm using jdk1.8.0_51 but minecraft wants to start up using java 6 for some reason.

At the end there was an option to confirm which version of Java you're running and it told me I was using 8. And before I followed them I followed the instructions on how to uninstall java just to start with a clean slate.
  13. Argh, argh, argh. I found a set of instructions on how to get java 8 to work on your mac but it wasn't working. So I tried to backtrack and now I can't even open minecraft at all. I thought I put everything back where it was supposed to be but something's off. I get the launcher loaded up okay except that the 'play' button just stays on "loading." And in my java control panel, under Java, there isn't anything below the 'view' button, which is greyed out. Essentially, I just went from being able to play TFCraft without journeymap to not being able to play TFCraft or minecraft at all.
  14. Are you sure? When I open Java and check the version it says I'm using version 8 update 45.

  16. Anyone know which version of JourneyMap I should be using? I had problems with the most recent one (5.1.0) and with 5.0.1. Both end up crashing my game when I try to use their settings menu in game.
  17. Brewing Issue.

I read in the change log that the recipe for alcohol is ten buckets of water and 160 oz. of what you're brewing. I sealed corn in one barrel and rye in another. The change log said the wait is 72 hours. I've waited over a month and nothing appears to have happened. Am I missing something? Additionally... anyone have any idea why when I plant sugarcane seeds they disappear? (This is related to brewing because I'd like to grow them to make rum.)
  18. Food don't matter

And may I add that this solution is a pretty satisfactory one from where I stand, it doesn't punish players like me any more than the consequences we currently suffer when we die but it does create incentive for the number crunchers to keep their characters fed.
  19. Food don't matter

Also, Kitty addressed this subject in the post "Some Observations of How People Play" by saying: "I have made a change for the next version regarding hunger penalties solely because there was enough complaining about it on the forums. Just how when the thirst bar reaches less than 25% a slowness debuff is applied to players (which makes sense since sprinting reduces thirst), in the next build having a hunger bar less than 25% will result in a mining fatigue and weakness debuff (based on the idea that using tools depletes hunger faster). Hopefully this won't step too much on those who don't exploit the rules, and the slightly annoying potion particle effects in your face will be a nice reminder that it's time to eat. The debuffs applied for hunger don't go quite as far for those of thirst (0% thirst disables all sprinting). Regardless of if your hunger is at 24%, or at 0%, it will simply be a Mining Fatigue II and Weakness II potion effect, which in my opinion was enough to be slightly annoying, but something that doesn't completely halt gameplay until you either die or eat. The faster nutrition drain for 0% hunger is still in place as well. There are no plans to "fix" the suicide issue." So rehashing it is kinda beating a dead horse. (Sorry, I don't know how to properly quote from one post onto another.)
  20. Food don't matter

I think my point addresses this. In general, you're going to have folks who number crunch and exploit to the expense of their own game-play immersion. This is a simple fact. If you attempt to create steeper penalties to "keep these guys in line" you're going to do so to the hurt of the folks who don't play that way. I'm very glad I don't lose skill levels when I die. I don't think losing skill levels would add to my game play in the slightest but actually, since it takes a while to level your skills up, would take away from my experience. I'm against this sort of thing in general. If you cater the game mechanics to keep the number crunchers in line you will end up affecting the other types of players adversely.
  21. Food don't matter

I play on single player and I'm satisfied with the way hunger works. I keep my character well-fed on sandwiches. There have been stretches of time where I was in situations where there was little to no available food. For example; I went exploring, I was looking for fruit trees. When I left my nutrition levels were full. I spent just over a year wandering. There were some lands I passed through which were abundant with food but I still couldn't prepare sandwiches so my nutrition suffered a little. My journey reached an all time low when I happened upon a continent at the beginning of winter which had no trees. There were no fruits, no vegetables, no grains, no domesticated cattle for dairy, and the animals I did find to slaughter, I couldn't cook because the land was barren... no trees. It was harrowing and I nearly starved. Now I know to carry a stack of wood with me when traveling to unknown lands. If you're going to play like a number cruncher and let your health deteriorate, that's your business. But demanding the game mechanics be changed so that you are forced by steeper penalties to keep your character fed is silly. I like having upwards of 1K health, I keep my character fed. You feel you can get by on 200 health. Okay. There will always be number crunchers and there will be the more immersive folk. It isn't fair to the latter group if the rules are designed in such a way so as to twist the first group's proverbial arm to play the way they "should." Just play the way you want to play. Don't eat.
  22. A Bit of a Spooky Adventure

I expect that the impenetrable acacia forest is in every world if you head toward the equator. Or, at least, every one of my saves has had one.
  23. [Solved] Pickling

    Beautiful.
  24. Some observations of how people play

Hrm. Folks, may I suggest that we not disparage, even by inference, the handful of individuals who labor over this enjoyable pastime for us? None of us had to buy TFCraft in order to play it. The developers are, I am certain, doing their best to make a game they believe is worth playing. They will make choices. You will approve of some of these choices. Other choices... not so much. This forum is, among other things, a means by which they are able to pick our brains to whatever degree they wish, and we are, in a civil and good-spirited manner, able to tell them what we like and what we dislike about various aspects of the game as well as suggest ideas they may or may not have thought of. There may come a time when Bioxx, Dunk, and Kitty make one or more development choices which render the game completely unenjoyable to any number of us. That is a definite possibility as we have a broad spectrum of tastes and play-styles. But they don't owe us anything. If the time comes that you don't like the direction the game is taking, and you've politely, respectfully, and good-naturedly spoken your opinion, you may continue to play the version before the change was made, you may play the game as it is made and accept the changes, or you may depart to play some other game. Can we please try not to see each other as enemies or glower and grumble? Also... this post isn't actually about what you don't like about various changes, it's actually about how you play. These two subjects intertwine and some explanation may be warranted but let us not harp on a tired point if we can avoid it.
  25. Some observations of how people play

For what it's worth, this adjustment to the hunger issue has my complete approval. Ya know, because everyone was on the edge of their seat.
