      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. If anything is RPG-like, it is the new "level-up = more health" feature in TFC. Though not exclusive to the RPG genre, almost all RPG's have this feature. I like it, but I do not see TFC becoming an actual RPG. Bioxx already stated he is trying not to introduce interactive NPC's to the game which would be almost needed for it to be classified as RPG.

  2. We're using the iron/steel making methods for all metals, now, I wouldn't mind more realism but it really gets complicated if we throw too much in.

maybe with at least a nod towards realism have different metals consume charcoal differently, maybe tin needs 2 caseterite for each coal, while iron needs 1:1.

(This is a jab at this forum's mob mentality towards the word "realism", not a jab at renadi)

  3. The intended feature is 1 charcoal per 1 ore regardless of ore size. Also it will take some to initially heat the bloomery and some to use the bellows. If your bloomery is using far more than this, then you may have a bug on your hands.

  4. It's not that i don't have faith in the devs; pretty much the opposite, in fact. I wasn't going against you supporting this suggestion, but the way you did. I'm just telling you what to do in this case so you don't try to go with an argument such as that next time you try to defend an idea, simply 'cause most of the times it won't work at all. I really don't see where did the "little faith in the devs" thing came from... I haven't said they couldn't make it, i said it would take a lot of work and time, and there are other more important things they are probably focusing on right now.

I mostly said that because... well, i got pretty sick of people saying "but this mod did it!" in those times where most of newbies did -__- i'm just not gonna let it happen again...

You said just now "most of the times it won't work at all"... how do you know? You are limiting your expectations of what Bioxx can and cannot do when you say that. You should be thinking he can do great things, as he has already done with this mod.

I think you are confusing "mod x did it, so why doesn't TFC do it" with "mod x does it, so TFC should be able to do it". I never said Bioxx WILL do it, I just suggested he may be able to. This is the sugestions forum after all.

  5. NO!

One does not simply compare TFC to another mod.

    Also, it does?

I see no comparisons. Maybe you meant to quote someone else? Also, watch Crysyn's BTW videos, it is explained there.

... I know it should be fairly easy to change it, but i just can't allow that habit to get back to the newbies...

Do NOT say something can be made in TFC because other mod has done it. Most of the times -not like this one-, that feature you are talking about is something that took that particular mod's maker months of hard work, and would have to be done in a completely different way as the devs just can't take the code of another mod and add it to TFC (unless it's an open source).

I would prefer you did not tell me what I can and cannot say. I made no statement bashing this mod. In fact, I feel with the talent I have already seen in this mod, that Bioxx should be able to handle this easily. Not sure why you have so little faith in the devs.

  6. Maybe you guys failed to notice that Dunk, a developer of the game, was the first to bring up realism in this post. Why not point your fingers where the blame really should be? Nothing against Dunk, he can use the word if he wants, but if he is going to use it, you shouldn't try to make others feel bad for using it as well.

  7. I have an issue with the chisel where it is in the wrong mode sometimes. I think it has to do with me playing on two different computers. So stair mode smooths, and slab mode makes stairs, and smoothing mode makes slabs. I guess I need to make sure I always log off with the same mode set. Never saw where it only did smoothing no matter what mode you put it in.

One cool thing I discovered this way is that you can make "smooth stairs" by smoothing first then making stairs.

I had this exact issue once, but I only play from one computer and host the server on another. Restart did fix it.

  8. If you really going to do this, I would suggest mIdas, much less work.

But if you do, you'll go to hell. yeah... It's a sin...

I agree this is the best way to do research on ore distribution, it is much better than mcedit. Just make sure you change the patch file to match the current item id's as they change from time to time and you might end up showing no ore at all.

  9. well you see that title some people have when they just start on these forums? yeah

Forum titles... yep, strikes me as concrete proof. Especially since Bioxx is not listed as the webmaster. It is quite possible that SpAnser just put those in.

  10. Anyone have a link where Bioxx said we are supposed to be cavemen? I always thought, as a sandbox game, we would use our own imagination as to how we got here.

  11. Ohh a fight. Someone, go make some popcorn.

Seriously, Not best to attack staff directly. Ever. Talk it out civilized.

and before you give the bullshit about 'I was being calm' or 'I wasn't attacking' etc, know that in fact staff(the ones on most sites) dont care. If they take offense, then in fact it WAS an attack, and there is no saying otherwise without a definitive explanation, something very rare on the nets.

    /just saying

    1. Not a fight.

    2. This has happened before and was brought up in PM's with me, Bioxx and Dunk.

    3. Bioxx doesn't treat his players this way, why would he want his staff to? Staff should be held accountable for their actions as they are public representatives of these forums and this mod.

  12. Yeah, only a complete idiot wouldn't do it that way, or think that that was what was being talked about.

I thought you two were better than that.

Next time, you get a warn status.

So calling someone an idiot gets you a warn status, but this...

    FUCK NO.

I mean god dammit. I've been telling you guys for weeks: nonononononononononononononono. Seems like you're all deaf or some shit.

    and this...

that's the pussy sort of attitude we don't like here at TFC. If you want it to be easy, go play vanilla.

is perfectly OK? Dunk, I thought YOU were better than that.

  13. that's the pussy sort of attitude we don't like here at TFC. If you want it to be easy, go play vanilla.

Nothing about this mod is hard... tedious maybe, but not hard. Things just take so much longer. I'm not complaining, just pointing that out. In fact my goal for this weekend is to gather enough ores to make 64 red steel ingots... because I have no life of course :) Another 20 or so stacks of iron and I am good :)

  14. Because he can't make the molds he want to use again if he doesn't has clay in the first place ._. it's not like if you spawned with a stack of them...

That's why I said "why do you need more clay", I didn't say "why do you need any clay". If molds are re-usable, you only need enough clay for a few molds, not tons and tons of the stuff.

  15. What do you mean by using the logs not log piles? Also I can't place cobble as a ceiling without it falling down the majority of the time.

In the new release, you can place logs(like vanilla logs) and log piles instead of just log piles. To place logs, simply place it on the ground like you would with dirt. To place log piles, hold shift and place it on the ground. The logs take a really long time to break with an axe so it may be better to do the shift-click method to place the log piles so you can rearrange them later fairly easily.

  16. ...probably going to hide it with traps, long, confusing mineshafts and basically just make it really hard for anyone to get...

We need invisible blocks we could make hidden jumping puzzles over lava pits.... make them work for their theft... or make it so ridiculously difficult that they would rather just work for the stuff themselves.
