      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Since there will be no guns in vanilla TFC, there should be addons for different ages. There would be 4 ages. The stone age, the ancient age, the Medieval age, and the Renaissance age. The Medieval age will add a crude gun (its basically a metal barrel on a stick), and the Renaissance age will add better guns like wheel-locks and flint-locks, and even add maybe cannons.

  2. I'm not sure if I like your idea about combat. But i do agree about armor weight, shields, and crossbows. What i would like to see is more weapons (possibly a way to customize weapons). I would also like to introduce a couple new ideas attack speed, heavy and light attacks, and stamina. with those topics they would eliminate the hit-to-click combat system. OK how heavy and light attacks work is that heavy attacks do more damage but are slower and light attacks are faster but weaker. heavy attacks are done by holding the left mouse button for a little bit and light attacks are executed by tapping the left mouse button. With stamina depending on the type of attack could cost more or less. Another part of my idea of combat is dodging. How dodging works is however which way you want to dodge. In order to dodge from left to right you double click the A or D if you are doing a backwards dodge double click the S key if you are doing a forwards dodge you double click the W key with out holding it. I hope that this suggestion holds some weight.

  3. Well I think I semi-like this. For one I think that there should NOT be magical stuff, only some. Like a enchantment and alchemy system and nothing more.

  4. So, I wrote this program, celluar automaton, once. It dealt with an array of about 3'000 by 3'000 integers (which is similar to how minecraft stores the world). It was supposed to do a mere 100'000'000 steps on that array changing it with a simple rules. And on my machine it took almost a week.

     

    Why did I tell you this? Because what you have suggested is an algorythm that will deal with an array of at least 20'000 by 20'000 by 255 of integers (Which is what now is supposed "Size of terrafirmaEarth"). And those rules that will generate the world by smoothing it, leaving imperfections and smoothing it again are by several magnitudes more complex than mine. Albeit this algorytm is not supposed to make as many passes on the array as mine did, but I still don't think you would want to wait even half an hour for it to finish.

    I'm not sure why I writing this, as answer was already gotten. Maybe I wanted to give you actual numbers you're looking at in the end.

  5. I have always wanted a better combat system, and in this post I will tell you how I want the better combat system to work. The reason why I want a better combat system is because 1. I do not like the click-hit system 2. I do not like how someone would lose in combat just because one has better gear then the other. In my new combat system it relies on a couple of factors which is blocking, attack speed, stamina, and light and heavy attacks. How light & heavy attacks work is that they are two types of attacks executed by how long you click the mouse, a light attack is done with a tap of the left mouse button that does less damage but is quicker, a heavy attack is executed by holding it for less than a second the left mouse button which does more damage but is slower. The next thing is the concept of blocking, blocking works by right clicking a weapon or shield(yes i said shield) but what is different is that you do not instantly block because it takes a bit of time before you get to block. Stamina is the last concept, stamina is a meter that gets depleted by running, dodging (dodging is executed by double tapping the A,D, or S keys and for a forward dodge is done by double tapping and NOT holding the W key), getting hit when your shield is up, and swinging your weapon or holding your bow. If you don't have any stamina when you block a attack you take half damage. The second part of this topic is more weapons. More weapons would include things like claymores, war axes, new types of bows, and halberds. Every weapon has a set of stats such as attack speed. With more weapons there needs to be more armor. Depending on the armor type it can make you slow or make it feel like your not wearing anything. This is what I think should be added to Terrafirmacraft and this concludes my post.

     

     

     

     

    Just to say the main thing on this post was the new combat system, I was just talking about weapons because a new combat system would not work without new weapons

  6. I heard about  how one of the planned features of TerrafirmaCraft. In this post I will talk about how i think terrain generation should be like. For one I believe in a limited world but it should be bigger than earth which I believe is more than enough room to build things. I do not know how it would look at the world's edge but I HAD the idea that when you get to the edge you somehow get teleported  to the other side of the world but from previous post I know that's almost impossible. When you first click the "create new world" button it creates your world differently. For one it will generate the whole world first, than it will smooth, polish,define whatever word you choose, than it looks for  flaws in the terrain and smooths it, it will then set up a seed for any trees, any animals, and any crop and will spread though out the land mass but it may not spread across great bodies of water or (maybe) deserts (that might be a bad thing because what if it says that pigs  come from a small island far from spawn but the native Americans survived), and than it sets your spawn at a random place but will not spawn you in the middle of a inhospitable environment. So there you go my idea for terrain generation, I really hope you like it!
