      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Slanted Support Beams

10 posts in this topic

For construction/fortification!

     a# # # - wood a - axe

These are useful for constructing longhouses, roofs, tents, etc. They can be used to fortify walls or something else maybe?

What is the advantage of using this versus just a normal support beam? Plus without an addition of a couple extra blocks you can't make a long line of these

Aesthetics. I'm just not sure it'll work as well in practice as it looks in my mind.

A slanted beam would require a slanted block in order to stick without clipping. :U

in my mind I was seeing a support beam that can support "stair stepped blocks" without having to add more vertical beams at each block up. X=block S = Slanted Support V = Vert Support E = Empty space

X X S X X

X S E S X

S E E E S

V E E E V

V E E E V

In my mind I envisioned that for making arches and peaks on houses, supporting caves and mines that aren't flat roofed.

thats what i was addressing earlier think about it the blocks can only be within their box so the only contact would be in the corners. I don't want to draw a picture so going to try this instead.

e=edge of the block, i=inside of the block, o=other block, u=unused space

Hopefully that made sense if not tell me I'll draw a diagram. Whats wrong with Kaevators slopes or the slope mod?

the problem is that you want something to appear at the Xs (that I've marked) without adding new blocks there as well. It's theoretically possible, but probably difficult.
