      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

more ways to get string and making it usefull

49 posts in this topic

Oh, that remembers me, also every use you do of the tool head has a chance of damaging you -half heart of damage in normal- :3 because you can easily hit yourself on accident

EDIT: lol, i don't know why, i just thinked about what would happen if you accidentaly hit your hand with a stone axe .__.

err... body parts amputation is a feasible posibility? :3

I noticed you conjugated some of those verbs incorrectly. You could say "He remembers her" or "I remember her", but you wanted to say "That reminds me".

and you said thinked instead of thought again.

: Damn it, i always say "thinked" instead of "thought"... And apparently, i always write it that way as well.

About the "reminds" thing... o.o well, that's a new word to me. Thank you for the quick english lessons xD.

BTW...

What... why did you post a copy of dunk's profile? And i like the stone tools as they are, but i didn't mean for string/fiber to be used for tools per say, but what about for the other things like bow strings. fishing line, (i mean, throwing cobweb on a stick does not a bow make) and maybe some things like a rope, that could be climbable and retractable.

Also it would make fabric/carpet production much less mob-farm heavy, if we could use flax/cotton as a substitute.

Because i was unable to see that prehistoric fish image, and instead there was that little icon. But nevermind, i can see it now :

And... i'm not really sure about what you meant to say O_o

hmm we could make string neccesary for stone tools? seeing as you dont really have anything to keep the tool head on the stick at the moment, string could be used for that

tool heads can be press fitted onto a stick...

they were held in the bear hand and swung.

Just saying, it might be hard to grip any tools with bear hands ... However, bare hands are a totally different matter (sorry Dunk, I had to do it :P)

It may be faulty memory, but I recall leather strips being the main binding material for tool usage. Seeing as it is fairly simple to get a supply of leather going, perhaps heating (treating) the leather on a campfire would allow you to get a bunch of leather strips (so it is not a do it every time you need a tool deal).

Bottom of the post because it was only mentioned, I would enjoy some form a fletching to make bows.Maybe a bit like knapping for the cruder variety, then chisels for long bows.

Nice suggestions indeed... although both have their own threads, and both have little to do with this post, except with the tools discussion :P

Was their correction as dripping with sarcasm as mine was ? :P

If so, you should probably go and mock them vigorously :L :L

Maybe they thought you literally meant "bear hands", as in a set of hands taken from a bear :P (That would surprise me, but you never know ... ¬.¬)

That said .. Bears have paws .. So he was wrong either way :L :L

you would need sulfuric acid to treat the leather, that requires sulfur and other chemicals it would need way too much complication and it would make it impossible to make stone tools. heating leather does not treat it in any way.

TFC is not aimed towards total realism, it is aimed also for things that seem realistic, I say maybe boiling leather would be remotely close to believable. also you seem to have rehashed something that should have been /threaded a while ago, hope this brings attention to its demise

calm down man. Often, animal hides were stretched and placed in front of a fire to cure them after they had been chemically treated.

There's already a discussion on the hide tanning so I'll leave that alone, but I do believe most if not all of the ingredients are already in place in the game.
