      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Meltable Anivils

17 posts in this topic

I think it would be cool to be able to melt down your old anvils to the metal they were made of. For example say you have a bronze anvil but you have a old copper anvil you could melt it down for 12-14 unshaped copper not all 14 as the anvil has taken some damage from working on it.

This has already been suggested, Promackid, please search before posting in the future. (but seriously, can we get melt-able anvils?

Do you know how long it would take to melt a wrought iron anvil? That's 200lb of pure metal, once they are made, they ain't goin' nowhere.

I disagree, if we can smelt the iron from the ore, i definately think we could melt down an anvil, maybe in a different container, but it is very possible, as well as gameplay helping, i mean, all the wasted copper on an anvil, when it could be reused as bronze.

YA that would be nice but no way to move lava unless lots of zombie killing

Volcanoes would solve that... (hint hint bioxx, and Dunk) and getting a bukkit from zombie iron is cheating >.>

but then again we do have a metre cube forge block to melt things down in, that might be large enough to melt them down, just would take more time

also you would need a tonload of molds to hold all that liquid metal after you melted it

Tonload? No more than 14. I would think even less so as to not use them as compact storage.

this is already on my tiny tweaks metathread

Also, the bloomery would be far better suited to this

This was also suggested in a video I did with Nieztro, a while back. I answered that one in the video as well.

Oh? I thought I watched all of those, must have missed it. What was the answer?

We like the idea (Bioxx and I, he suggested using the bloomery, as it's the only thing big enough) but it would put out a fair bit of unshaped metal. That said, it's not one of our top priorities, so assuming we implement it, it won't be for a while.

I do like the idea of the bloomery to melt they but they should require 1/2 to a stack of charcoal to melt

anvils will have a certain weight of metal, just like ore. They will require however much charcoal it takes to meet the needs of that weight.

The solution you're looking for is already built in

Seeing as there's no point in suggesting on a topic that has already been answered, I'll close this.
