How do you make a stone anvil to make a tin pick without stone?!

I've searched wiki, roamed on the forums for a couple hours and its all saying you need a stone anvil, and a stone hammer to work on a tin pick. Well I've got Unshaped tin at full durability, got a stone hammer, but how do you make a stone anvil?

Anvils are crafted in the crafting table using 2x Ingots; the stone anvil is an exception, it is created by using a hammer on the top of a raw stone block.

I'm sitting here right clicking a raw stone block. Nothing is happening.

A stone anvil is simulated by using a hammer on the top surface of a piece of raw Igneous Stone in its natural layer, opening the regular Anvil GUI. this is the only way to work metal before getting Copper.

Make sure you have the right type of stone, and that it was naturally there, not transported from another biome.

1) Igneous stone is irrelevant, I've done it on sandstone

2) It's a bug. Restart your minecraft client and it will work.

It can be a few things actually, yes It MUST be one of the stones that are native to that area, if in doubt, dig down, and use that, also and quite importantly, click the TOP part of the stone, and it must be actual stone, not chiseled stone, or bricks (however considering you have no tools, i assume you have no chisel)

I have the same problem here.

I have a stone hammer and tried a lot of stone but nothing happens when i try to use the hammer on the top of the stone blocks.

I have alot of dolomite blocks around and some other, real white stone blocks.. are there any stones that wont work?

I've also restartet both, client and server..

I know that limestone doesn't work. Try cheating and use marble. It works. If it doesn't work then you have a big problem.

It has to be one of these: Diorite, Gabbro, Granite, Andesite, Basalt, Dacite, Rhyolite.

The good news is that once you find it, you can mine it out (destroy all the blocks around it) and take it back to your base (make a pickaxe on-site).

There isn't the marble...Oh sh...I meant Granite. It's a bit confusing when you're not a geologist. And I'm not a geologist.

Hm i'm playing scince monday on this map and never see anything else then dolomite and this plain white stones... ok i'll try to find a different one. Thanks so far.
