      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

old version of tfc

14 posts in this topic

there needs to be old version of tfc downloadable

and if there are they need to be findable

like with the change log or with the download help forum

please and thank you

this is so that those who wish to play on servers don't have to wait for the server to update if they did not download the previous version

Wouldn't the downloads list be extremely large, as Bioxx is constantly releasing new updates and hotfixes? How many different downloads has this mod needed so far due to updates?

EDIT: These are mostly questions i made to myself :P i like the idea... And for the list, i just realized it would be a better idea to just place the finished versions of each update. Still lots of links, but much less than every separated hot fix and their original update.

it would be just as big as the change log and could be placed there so clicking the different version would send you to the download link

I think a highlight reel would be nice, some of the best builds from the past. Try to remember, a lot of builds last only a few days, as they can be pretty broken/buggy sometimes (not to say bioxx isn't doing a good job, it's just how things work sometimes. i love the constant updates, even when they have some issues, bioxx seems to always fix them.) . And I dont know why you would want to go back to the beta 2 early-mid 40's when all that ore generation stuff was going on.

because servers are not constantly updated and if you want to play on them you have to have the correct version which you may not have and if your new you definitely don't have

A Github page could be set up... with all the stable builds of tfc.

Most servers update constantly, this is a non-issue. The only time they don't is when a build is unstable, and there is ALWAYS a server that is on the current build. Despite this, i still support the idea, i just don't think we need all of the builds of beta2, there are A LOT of them, i also don't see a reason to go any farther back than the start of beta 2, even that might be too far, it just isn't necessary right now, maybe later, much later, but not now. Also, i think this might function better as a community driven project, maybe Bioxx could send one person all the past builds he wants to release, and they could post it somewhere.

what do you mean by constantly the server I just joined is a version or two behind the current build.

you would have to wait for them to update to when they think it will be stable again and if you did not download the version they are using the only version available is the unstable version

The old versions arent exactly hard to get ahold of. Just change the download URL.

For example:

The current build is at http://www.terrafirm...B2-Build49d.zip

To switch back to 49b for example, just change it to http://www.terrafirm...B2-Build49b.zip

For those BEFORE Universal builds (48 and before) www.terrafirmacraft.com/files/TFCraft-client-core-B2-Build48d.zip

Edit 9/12/12: Forgot the resources folder, applies to last resources folder before Universal, I believe it was 48g or something. www.terrafirmacraft.com/files/TFC_Resources.zip

Honestly, you should keep your own archive, but Ragans seems to have solved the problem.

Most decent long term servers will most definitely not update constantly lol

if anything they'll delay as long as possible, just in the last week there have been a few versions, if they'd changed during anything but the most recent one the game seemed to be practically unplayable in one way or another. I think it's probably a safe thing to update now, but I wouldn't put this up on a server that was hosted for anything other than close friends who were aware of the issues.

I have an archive of .minecraft folders and the .zip files of mods that I like in a hard drive that I can access. If you have a memory unit or space on your computer, it's a good idea to do it. I agree with your suggestion too, though.
