      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Trophy Items

21 posts in this topic

After Seeing my Experience rot on my character, i had the idea of Using it to make some items like battle standards, Crowns, Capes and other status symbols, that are either just aesthetic, or very very minor buffs. Preferably this would come with extra item slots, somewhat like what one sees in the inventory screen in the battle gear/aether mods. This would not only add an interesting and legitimate use for XP, it would also show skill of a warrior (especially if players killed by players were to drop exp in addition to what normally drops). So some knight could walk onto a field, with a massive standard on his back, and a large winged crown, and a flowing cape. And this would cause all the opponents to route.

Also, as Eternal Undeath wisely pointed out a perhaps more preferable (to me) solution, is as follows

I say using the old enchanting system for this would be decent, but perhaps at a 'pluming stand' of some description.

You take a pre-crafted item from a pre-determined list, like a blue steel helm or a red cape or some such thing, and by expending X number of levels make it a plumed or trimmed or whatever version, which has a slightly different but more impressive texture

It would also entail a little gui smithing sort of 'game', where doing well can end up using less xp than was required to start the process - like, that winged black helm still costs 50 levels to plume and you can't select it as an option if you have any less, but if you do it really well then you may retain like 3-5 levels to spend on pluming something else, saving you a bit of work later

Are you saying that XP converts into items like capes/crowns instantly? I think xp combined with gems could be important ingredients for smithed/woven items. Like a master craftsman uses the power of THE MAGIC GEM combined with the life-force energy of a thousand warriors to create a proper centerpiece for a cool golden crown?

Getting experiences does take work unless you are in creative I suppose. Nonetheless we already have a winged helmet and BA looking armors its called high tier metals.

I realize, but for aestheic items, there aren't any, i was thinking of an item like an enchanting table, but instead the xp is used perhaps along with materials.

Stop. Stop it. This thread still has plenty of life in it before it careens off the rails into irrelevance :P

I like the idea, I feel like we aren't being rewarded for actively hunting mobs right now :/

Any buffs you would get from experience related items would essentially be an advantage over other players that you acquired through a repetitive action... sound familiar? *coughrpgcough* excuse me, I have a cold.

Still, this idea is pretty nice. If combat gets reworked -as you said plenty of times :P-, it could become good enough not to be too repetitive -by this i mean, every fight would be different from the previous one-. If this can/will be done, could we get this suggestion implemented?

and besides from what i've seen, these things would be purely ornamental, not a single advantage was given that day

Well since i knew that your response would be as such dunk, that is why i also added "that are either just aesthetic, or very very minor buffs"

He said minor buffs.

He said aesthetic OR minor buffs. As I knew buffs would never ever happen, I read that as simply 'aesthetic'

That is, if Rogue doesn't mind

He said minor buffs.

So you throw out the buffs part, you dont have to slam dunk the whole idea into a trash can because of the one part you dont like. (yah i know "dunk" :P)
