      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Bows and Arrows

Considering the new health and weapons system, bows have become somewhat godly, a cheaty way to kill mobs easily. I propose a different system.

Metal Arrowheads

Craftable arrows of different metals, going up in terms of damage, one ingot would grant a significant amount of arrowheads.

Tiered Bows

As well as arrows, bows would go up in damage and down in aim penalty. Bows would not be 100% metal, but it would be obvious what metal they would be.

Better Skellies

Skeletons would also wield random tier bows, and shoot random arrows.

Excuse me, but since when, exactly? You're wasting 10 to 30 arrows to kill a zombie. Actually, bows need to be buffed.

I agree that we need more tiers for ranged weaponry, but metal bows are of quite high level of technology because of metal strings.

And I feel skeletons are descent pain as they are now. Variety will still be nice though, but I'm not sure how it will interfere with devs' intention to remove vanilla hostile mobs from surface.

not metal bows, more wooden bows + metal crossbows with non-metal strings.

That's exactly what I meant. And there could be composite bows incorporating use for bones. Maybe?

Yeh seriously, bows need a buff, bad. It's a good excuse to finally do TFC bows with better crafting too.

well, more than a buff, a complete and total overhaul, bcause last time i checked, mashing 3 pieces of spider siulk onto some sticks didnt make a bow, nor did mashing feathers and rocks onto a stick make arrows.

What about carved (with metal knife or axe) bows from different types of wood? It would add nice character imho and also exploration aspect different from hunting for ores all the time. Stick bows could stay, with their current power as the most primitive alternative (see: http://i.imgur.com/X1gHH.jpg ).
