      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Sphalerite

8 posts in this topic

I ssp, I have found a ridiculous amount of sphalerite. Once, I was digging and ran into a cave full of it (Along with bituminous coal, galenite, and gypsum). It was one of those giant veins that never seems to run out, so I figured I was set on tier 1. I decided to strip-mine for copper, where I ran into another giant vein of zinc.

So, what should I do with all this zinc. Armour, obviously, seeing as zinc is now cheaper than leather, but where will I need it? I know it can be used for brass, but that seems useless.

Also, what good is lead and silver?

Have any of you guys ran into so much ore in survival?

Silver is useful for black, blue and red.

You really don't need much of the first tier metals, 100 ores is enough.

Armor is useless now (at least the first couple tiers), because of the new damage system you won't see much difference from the leather armor.

Those veins are pretty common in every map (http://terrafirmacra...-of-sphalerite/) and no need to dig them unless needed, they usually contain thousands of ores.

Note the change upcoming in the ChangeLog though... armour will be useful again soon. (Though hard to say if the Tier0s will really be any better than leather still. Not really sure they should be.)

And not only armor, weapons too.

I just hope that you won't have to make armor every single day, but once a year or a few month.

I have made armour and just put it on my wall for decoration. I really wish they would come out with an armour rack.

It's a lot of tedious work, but just make things! Not only will you get pro at smithing, but you'll have extra tools to spare or to repair with. Armor is always good (especially with new update) and is even more practice. Hate using that wimpy knife in combat? Smith some weapons. If you're really that far ahead of the curve then I can see this being useless, but depending on where you are in the game, jut use this to work on your skills!
