      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Problem with making unshaped steel

Hi, I have 3 liquid unshaped wrought iron and 1 liquid unshaped pig iron, I shift-clicked them into the metallurgy table but no steel appears. I checked the iron to be liquid and it was. So why is there no steel?

You need 4 full molds. And also it needs to be at high temperature, not only liquid.

The molds are full, and they all are brilliant white. It cannot get any higher, can it?

I think there are definitely degrees of brilliant white. For example, when I get my pig iron out of the bloomery it takes several minutes to finally start showing any kind of cooling.

Use the bellows on the forge and let the liquid sit for a minute after they all reach brilliant white to absorb some extra heat.

Second the "probably not hot enough." Remember when alloying that just being liquid isn't good enough. It actually needs to be hotter than the melting point of the resulting alloy. I'm pretty sure steel has a higher melting point than pig iron or wrought iron (even though they're all "brilliant white"), so this is most likely your problem.

Might be redundant, but keep it in the forge for a bit after it reaches Brilliant White. Based on what I have seen from personal experience, there are some *hidden* values under Brilliant White.
