      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Using Saltpeter as a Fertilizer / as a Gunpowder Source

7 posts in this topic

I can see a believable usage of saltpeter — right clicking it onto crop tile (or empty farmland tile) to restore (or at least increase) its nutrient values (those red-orange-yellow columns). This meens we do not have to migrate farms after each harvest.

Also mixing saltpeter with sulphur and charcoal should result in gunpowder.

I don't know if there is a bug or not, but i just ignore the farmland nutrient values and always plant the same thing over and over again. I have so much food i can feed an army.

Gunpowder can be made in the coming B76 release. Now we only need good uses for it .... pipe-bombs anyone :)

Sadly you were not the only one with these two ideas, they have been suggested several times each.

(Standard rule for posting suggestion, ask yourself "Am i the only one with that idea?"

Please use the search function and look if a thread depicting your idea already exists).

Also this isnt exactly a TL;DR, and if you do not give a good explanation with your idea, and also how it could be implemented etc....

basically any kind of argument that supports the idea, it could be the relevancy of explosives in mining or creating mineshafts so on.

Or fertilizer being one of the reasons the industrial age was even possible.

Formatting i also a good idea, no one likes walls of text or, too, many, gramatical errors. See? :P

Try finding a user named Jed here on the forums he has an formatting style for his suggestions that we love to death here.

(and if you can do that, we will love you forever more  ).

It should work as an oxidizer allowing for faster combustion at higher temperatures.
