      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

So it turns out through a glitch or whatever that blocks on your property can still be chisled by griefers to break into your home.

What blocks can't be chisled, don't fall with gravity, and you can still place a tool rack on them?

Peat!

Now I just need to build the bottom floors of my tower with peat I guess...

Second thought...

Peat is flammable they could just burn it to the ground.

It will not burn , it will in the fire pit but not in the block form , i heard it in the suport sections , if it doesn't get fixed it will work.

The only problem with peat is that with a stone shovel anyone can invade your home. I suppose it is a matter of which is more important that it floats or that it needs to be more durable. Of course since peat floats perhaps it would be better to make your upper floors out of it. That way if the lower floors are destroyed by griefers, pointless beings that they are, it will at least leave the upper floors intact (and floating). Think of it as making each floor float separately from all the others by a layer of peat. That will at least make them work hard for it (and honestly there is nothing more you can do about it. Griefers are like natural disasters the most you can do is weather it with as much dignity and grace as possible).

Just build my home underground somewhere like usual I guess and hope it doesn't get found...

The sad part is I "bought" the land in town on the server where it is supposed to be "protected" from this crap...

Griefers are like hackers. Protection from them is only long and drawn out. Inevitably the little parasites find a way around it.

Sadly, the only cure for griefers is to find out where they live, abduct them when they get out of middle school, and toss them into a very deep pit.

I've got quite the collection under my house, though they start smelling a bit off after two weeks or so.

Not if you eat any part that would decay first

Or use a cremation chamber. Very useful for getting rid of smelly corpses/living people.

there is, as emris shows, a major difference between the script kiddies we all call hackers, and the actual hackers who make sure your entire pc wont work, save of a total reinstall.

Logs are burnable.

I still don't know any other block than peat that would be griefer proof in this way with a tool rack.

With a tool rack mounted on a stone or wood block if you chisel one side of it, the rack will break and all tools will fall right off for harvesting. Even if the blocks and racks are protected, at least on the server I play on.

Try it.

For now I just put all my tools into my two new store chests from the trade booth mod.

I seem to remember being able to put racks on crafting tables with Shift+RMB. Crafting table will become annoying to use, but you don't seem to care about tables' usability in this case.

Scribing tables, Metallurgy tables and Log piles should work too, the latter being burnable, and the rest being quite expensive.

you can "steal" the log pile when you play on a server, so the fact that it can burn is irrelevant.
