      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

New block mining system.

10 posts in this topic

Hello. I was thinking about minecraft block mining system lately. Don't you think it is not quite realistical when all damage to a block disappears if you suddenly stop mining? And isn't it a bit strange that you are mining a block continiously? I suggest the following two innovations:

1) Block damage saves to the block data (was earlier developed in Evil Minecraft)

2) Any tool (axe, pickaxe, hoe, shovel) acts as follows: you hold a pickaxe, you approach a block, you hold the [use item] button, charging power... release button, swing a pickaxe, block takes a portion of damade. The higher the power, the more player energy it will consume.Stone, wood, dirt and wooden planks can take a large amount of damage for one strike, but valuable ores demand more gentle mining. They will just break, and will not drop anything.

That's a problem to think about. I think it would be better if left-alone blocks will "heal" themselves. Also, blocks which do not exist in nature, will become "abandoned" if nobody will be close to them for about 3 weeks. The "abandoned" block concept is the same as cracked brick one (vanilla Minecraft). Cracked, or "abandoned" blocks could be repaired by right-clicking with chisel. Or, if you don't have one, you can break "abandoned" block and place it again, Simply because it drops a "fresh" one.

I guess that's a pretty good solution, I imagine explosions would also leave some blocks cracked? As in after a creeper explosion some of the blocks break, but others simply crack in varying degrees? This would give a reason to building a house out of stronger materials, given that the blocks have increased durability.

maybe the graphic of the breaking only appears when its being mined? for aesthetic appeal

Instead of mining the block really fast you'll have actually have to do hit the block each time. Also it would take a little while to get a crack to appear, this'll mean that you won't accidentally hit a block and the crack would stay. If it does happen with a wooden block, maybe you can repair it with the certain wooden plank the wood the crack has on it? Do you think every time you hit a block should it turn into a different block or would it crash, lag or is it even possible?

You only have to add the ID of charcoal in the config of multi mine. Else you would not be able to shovel it out of the pit.

The swing and hit approach for destroying blocks is very charming.

Hooo boy, I have to say, I don't like the idea of loosing ores because I somehow broke them into chunks _too hard_. You have to grind the rocks up to melt them down anyway, it doesn't make any sense.
