      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

[79.6] Recover Things after Dying

10 posts in this topic

SSP/no mods except Fastcraft

Not sure if this is a bug, but I couldn't recover anything of my inventory after getting killed by a bear. There shouldn't have passed much more than 5 minutes after I got back there, it was only a few chunks from my current spawn.

Also, is it normal, that a bear is grey, without textures? At first I thought there was just a wolf strolling by, that's why I got killed in the first place ...

What Forge version are you using?

Do you use any texture packs? Or anything else that might explain where the bear texture has gone to?

No texture packs either.

I'm not really sure, what exactly I saw, because it happened quite fast - what are bears in TFC supposed to look like? Textures I mean. Never saw one before ...

They are typically brown... kinda small and derpy.

Well, mine was definitely grey ... looks like missing texture. When I went there after some time, the bear was gone/despawned, so I couldn't confirm ...

I can't reproduce this. Filled my inventory with a bunch of random junk, then spawned in a bear and let it kill me. All of my stuff was still there on the ground when I got back.

P.S. This is what a bear is supposed to look like:

I'll come back to this after I met my next bear ...

Anyway, I think bears really are too small, and could be much darker in color, more like grizzly bears for instance. Then nobody would mistake them for wolves anymore.

Also, I think the heads are much like wolves' heads; I must say, I like the older bear model from Dunk better and more distinguishable.

Uh, what older bear model? We're still using the old one.

Edit: The bears are also actually perfectly correctly to scale of shoulder height in relation to 1 block = 1 meter tall. Dunk made very sure of this. The problem is that Minecraft scale is a bit weird, so many things appear smaller than they actually are.
