      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. One of the ads that are displayed at the top/side of the page probably was malicious, and somehow got through google's filters which is how it ended up on our site.

oh google if only you had millions of dollars to be able to make sure your security is good enough to catch things like these :/ tisk tisk

  3. Boys and girls its time once again to necro this topic but with a new perspective on it.

Anyways after thinking about why people made buildings I noticed that in most cases the buildings were ether the main home for the player or they where for multiblock constructions such as the bloomery, the forge or even the charcoal pits and pit kilns were made into their own separate buildings/ had their own designated spaces with some kind of decorations or embellishments.

So perhaps a way of making people want to make more infrastructure or just more buildings is to make more multiblock structures when possible. But not just 2x2 cubes but also more like the forge or pit kiln or forge is right now, it is technically a 1x1 block but it needs curtain needs met like having solid blocks on each side and being open to the air making it more of a 3x3 chunk minus the corners. It turns what could have been just a block in one house into something that people usually want to build a house designed specifically to hold.

It also helps that there are systems that make it more convenient and or more efficient to make a forge in a separate house like the ingot heating and cooling mechanism as well as how the forge gets hotter the more air is around it (if that hasn't changed last I heard)

Anyway perhaps if things like drying racks for meat, as I hear may be implemented, could have things like drying speed affected ambient temperature and/or by air blocks around it like the firepit/forge does with heat there would be an incentive to designate a field for the. Perhaps a bigger barrel made to start the fermentation processes and create more of a reason to build a pub/brewery/inn.

Anyone have any other ideas on what could be made into a multiblock or given specific requirements (forge or charcoal pit like) that would not be doing so just for the reason of making more multiblocks or adding tedium to tasks. It doesn't have to be in the game so any ideas for future buildings or systems is fair game as well.

Also aide note I'm writing this at one am on a tablet that for some unholy reason thinks I should write everything in caps so tell me if I missed an autocorrect anywhere, thanks.

  4. the game is based in the dark ages/ early medieval era as far as i know so I don't think we will ever have that level of tech. however there may eventually be steam power in the game although it will be a while before we see it if at all.

  5. ya you can still build stone walls. its just a bit harder but not that great of a challenge.

cobble and dirt only fall if they are not supported on at least two sides so here's what you do.

first make a two block thick line of cobble where you want the wall to be made

then make a pillar of whatever block you want on any of the short ends of the line. (height of this is the max height of wall)

build a line parallel to the cobble one made of the same blocks as the pillar (same height as well)

you can now place the cobble in the rows without it falling starting from the inner blocks and going out.

after you are done remove the supports that you built around the walls and there you go.

if my instructions are unclear here's a step by step picture guide of how to do this.

and you are done just delete all the wood supports around the wall and you get this

you aren't the first one to ask so i should probably make a topic on this >.<

  6. well its intended to do that.

Working as intended. As IRL, you can use it for fences or the base for a wall. Gotta use brick or cut stone if you want to go higher.

who says lol. i have built huge walls out of dirt and its quite easy to do the same with cobble now. just takes a bit more work.

  7. well i don't care what version of minecraft tfc is running on but custom block models seems awesome. :D

another note however if there is a huge jump to 1.8 that might take a ton of time just to port over the game let alone make use of the new stuff  >.>

  8. well I'm seeing tons of work being done on the new update so I'm guessing its going to come out this month or next month.

so what kind of buildings will you guys build for the new stuff that's going to come out? personally I'm thinking of building a full on harbor to fish so I can get more food early on :D

  9. The rapid pace of updates... ^_^

     oh you XD

love how its based more on multilayer survival because it makes for some interesting situations. I remember on some server i was in a town of 5 i think and when some guy came on that wanted to raid we all created a defense pact against him :D fun times

  10. Food spoilage has actually not been confirmed yet. It is being worked on in a separate branch, and still has a chance of being scrapped and not added to the game. However, if it does make it into the game, Bioxx is considering the idea of the spoiled food being used as fertilizer.

huh. i could have sworn someone confirmed it in some post or another but oh well. hope its going to be added then XD

  11. Straw makes a good fertilizer, and it's pretty plentiful.

Rotten flesh can work too, so can fish, pork, mutton, and other meat products as well.

oh ya that would be a great way to use rotten flesh. perhaps make a composter or something like that to turn straw into fertilizer, perhaps use bone

    0

  12. well i think its been confirmed that food is going to spoil so perhaps it could be used as fertilizer.  i could see you growing some kind of mass crop like a field of soy or whatever not to eat it but to turn it into compost to make sure the other fields you use to feed yourself can grow strong

  13. Quite the opposite actually. There is usually a very large surge of commits right before release. The lack of additions lately to the two main branches is because I've been out sick and currently in my final week of this quarter of school, Dunk is likely also dealing with finals for his school, as well as being distracted with Banished, and Bioxx is distracted with the third "secret project" branch as well as a new side project of a different game that he is messing with.

Especially since body temperature is still in the very early stages of development, and there are a fair amount of bugs with everything else that it would be extremely surprising if 78 was released before April. While I am by no means able to give a definitive ETA, and my opinions are purely speculation and should not be taken as fact, if I had to take a shot in the dark and guess when 78 is coming out, I would say June or July.. maybe even August.

on one hand aww D: thats a long time. on the other hand its not like I expected it to be done within the next two weeks anyway so yay more stuffs going to be added :D

  14. I would love to see an inventory encumbrance system. Add two extra variables, one for mass and one for volume. When one limit is exceeded, the container (inventory, chest, etc) cannot accept any new items, or maybe have multiple limits that involve increasing walking speed penalties. The number of slots is unimportant as long as the mass and volume limits are enforced, for instance say you put an anvil in an empty chest, although only one slot is used, the chest would be virtually full and unable to accept more items.

Why have an encumbrance system? Realism. Logistical challenges and restrictions have gone mostly overlooked in Minecraft, but I think they would provide more depth to the experience. Pack animals would be needed to move goods from one place to another, you could implement wooden carts and wagons. Mining could be slowed down as you'd need both a miner and someone to carry the stone and ore to the surface. Get rid of item drops in their current implementation altogether and make a debris system where you are forced to clear the heavy stone that's mined from the tunnel walls or else it will impede your progress in the tunnel. You can implement animal powered windlasses with hide bags for vertical transport of the mining material and a wooden cart/rail system for horizontal transport. Read De Re Metallica (1556) for illustrations and inspiration.

wow thats the best idea for encumbrance that i have seen so far o.o

  15. since it has been about a month since you last posted something on updates and stuff, Bioxx, can you give us an update and an estimate on when the new build will come out

ya you're going to find that they don't really post that many updates and the estimate is always when its done :D  you can look on the github however to see what they are working on and guess if they are making a stable build

  16. ok if you want it to just be brighter i might have a fix for that.

    go to your .minecraft folder.

open it and find a file that says options.

open it as a text document.

go to the setting called gama.

set that to anything over 1.

the higher you set it the brighter minecraft will be like if the brightness bar could go on forever.

at 1000 it will be like its day everywhere all the time.

warning though about this is that you will not be able to see or it may be very hard to see what is lit up and what isn't. so a place that you think is bright may be dark enough to spawn mobs.

if you just want more light sources in the game that would be nice. perhaps some kind of metal brazier to light up things

edit: oh ya and i almost forgot to say welcome to the forums
