      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    well that would not work seeing as how one of my three canine's is a wolf and would eat them but before we had the wolf, katey, our female golden retreiver, used to adopt golfers and bunnies. once even adopted a bird for a few days. she ended up loving it to death and refused to give up its rotting corpse for 3 days. treated that thing like it was one of her puppies.sorry for the story, just made me start thinking back to when my dogs tried to have "pets" of their own. she was so gentle and well behaved before the we got the wolf. mainly cause we stopped spending as much time with them do to work and school. buthey i gotta learn to stop rambling so yeah.

    i was actualy thinking of this as a new thread on the forum. why not have a mods section to the tfc forums? mods exclusively for adding things we want to tfc. that way individual coders can make a buch of diffrent mods and leave bioxx and his team to focus on the main content of the overhaul then when they are ready to start adding new more intresting things like enchanting, and the nether and who knows what else, they can just look on in the mods section of the forums and see what they want to add and what is the most popular. plus most of the work would already be done for them. if the modder that made the tfc addon mod was willing to let bioxx use the mod. but yeah it would solve a bunch of problems. people could use tfc to get the gameplay they love, then add in any addons they like. if you don't want dragons, which it sounds like they are going to be added in anyway, then you don't have to have dragons. if you want magic, then get the addon. want to change the new mob spawn system or add on to it? do it, want to get a modded version of mo creatures go for it. and who knows maybe when they get time that can do what notch never did (even though he promised) and add in an easy mod installation system, or whatever. this last part is completely unnecessary and not at all expected, just an idea, probabaly won't happen but would be cool.

This is to you three in specific, but anyone else who wants to can dive right in here as well. i am creating this post to drain off unwanted arguments that clog up the forums, if some one wants to post one of these in each forum page that would be great but seeing as how i only have time for one I am only putting it in the suggestions. ok so i would like to see topics stay on topic rather then get drug off topic and filled with pointless childish arguments and random topics about God/Gods know what. But i also acknowledge that a good argument and childish behavior is funny and people do like to read them from time to time, i am one of those people. so rather then ask everyone to stop cause we all know how that will turn out. feel free to use this topic to argue in rather then filling up the other topics with pointless crap. if you want to move an argument here just use the code ETS, (just a suggestion, you guys can do it how ever you want.) to let the others know they can find the rest of your comments in this topic. So if you find yourself sending more then one post to attack, debunk, or harass anyone else in topic or find this happening to you. please move the rest of your comments and arguments in here and let the topics grow and develop without interruption.

    oh ok first who said anything about griffons? second third and fourth because im going to lump them together, many cultures have treated many different animals in different ways, while some cultures would actively hunt down and kill an animal, other cultures would protect and worship these animals, this become more and more recognizable with stronger, larger, and more dangerous creatures, while one saw a monster and a threat, others saw power and divine guidance, if you take into account that most cultures not only have different art styles thus slightly altering the appearance of the subject they paint, also take into account that if (not saying they did, not saying they didn't) they did exist then they would be subject to geography like every other living thing. altering geography means altered physiology and behavior, while the geography of Europe might have lead a creature to be hostile in nature there does not mean that a close relative of the species could not be docile and even helpful in China. also take into consideration that the appearance of dragons across the world always has similarities to those closes to them in geography, such as the European dragons which generally have 4 legs 2 wings, and the wyren of north African which looks similar but lacks front legs. and the American style dragons found in lower North America which have large feathered wings and no legs. and so on and so forth, but no matter what changes a dragon goes through, a few things remain constant in any geography, and no matter where you look the basics of their core "DNA" holds true across every species. so maybe dragons were real, maybe they were just victims of nature relocating them and they adapted to survive, who knows, logic says they could not have existed, but logic also tells us to draw conclusions based on what we know. so really it is just a matter of opinion. and who knows, maybe Bioxx will decide those things fit into the game in some way. if it fits you can probably count on it being added eventually, i don't see this mod ending anytime soon.

    why is it you three always end up on every suggestions page arguing? also why is it that you guys take up about 50-70% of the posts with just pointless arguing? can we please get back to the topic and stop being childish and filling up the pages with smart ass remarks and childish nonsense? while yes i agree try is being a bit cynic and destructive most of the time, and eternal tries to be constructive and keep people in check, this has gone to far. and to you noodles, i thank you for the likes and the constructive comments and criticism but you are being a very childish instigator. so here is my advice to each of you. eternal, keep doing what you are doing, just please try to stay out of pointless childish arguments, you give people more credence by arguing then just disproving what they say and moving on ignoring any other pointless posts they make. to trey, please try being constructive from time to time and learn to take criticism from time to time without being a smart ass and doing some thing childish like this ... Damn, why there isn't a way to give someone, say, +121234568467865461524856246584242865652^2345232443? or this Noodles, you using generalizing. Give me an example of that. What I can give you an example of is the post that you half quoted. I apologized to jag, and accepted that I was in the wrong. Of course it was funny eternal, but it's never funny when the jokes on you. And besides, I was mostly referring to how noodles has been dogging my forum post with childish and unfunny comments blatantly worshiping you. If that offends you, makes you recede in to your turtle shell of "I'm not being immature, YOU'RE being immature" then go have at it. and to noodles, stop instigating things between people, and just stick to disagreeing and giving constructive comments and criticism. all three of you are equal member of this community and all three of you need to focus on contributing rather then fighting.

    take a step back, look at what you have written and then kick yourself in the face, because you still do not understand the difference between believability and realism. if it looks good, works properly and is well implemented so that it "feels" natural, the key word being "feels", natural to the game, then it is believable. all scientific and realism based arguments are meaningless. your arguement has just been made irrelevant. deal with it.

    1. yes they have been removed but Bioxx also plans on reimplementing them at a later point in the overhauls development. and redstone has not been removed, it is still apart of the game, you just can't make certain redstone items yet because he has not found a believable recipe/ way to make them. 2. i just got DF 3 days ago and can't really figure it out plus this comment is not exactly clear on what you mean so no comment. 3. Bioxx has already stated that he plans to keep the current mobs, just redo how they spawn, maybe make them spawn in caves and graveyards only, IDK but it still stands, you want a perfectly realistic game and this is not going to be that kind of mod so get over yourself or find a new mod.

    1. its a game, as long as the wings look big enough it is believable. 2. ever heard of evolution? there are many creature constantly evolving and changing. in fact many scientists believe that the idea of a mammal with more then 4 limbs is a likely possibility. oh and they are lizard/amphibians which are know to have the most diverse and easily rewritten genetics. in fact there are many cases where lizards have been born "mutated" with more then 4 limbs, albeit most often they are not able to use them but it shows that have the potential for such a step in the evolutionary chain. oh and to further the idea of reptilian DNA being flexible and diverse, when exposed to outside influences like radiation and such most reptile will rapidly mutate in the middle of their life to accommodate new variations in their DNA. meaning rapid growth and changes are possible. in fact reptiles are more closely related to insects on the evolutionary chain then mammals and most other types of animals. take frogs into consideration and how they go through a metamorphosis from a tadpole to a frog. this process could easily be applied to a dragons life cycle, starting off as large lizards and as they grow older their genetic code alters to allow them to grow exponentially and develop wings. there are creatures who already go through a similar process, albeit most are insectiod in nature, but again reptiles and amphibians are the closest to insects on the evolutionary chain. 3. this is already an existing natural weapon in nature, again mostly in insects but i go back to the evolutionary chain and state how dormant traits from previous evolutionary stages often carry over, just waiting for when they are needed or become dominant again. 4. again this is focused on believability, not realism, you are confusing the two, which anyone with half a brain would not due. believability is that it looks possible and feels possible. NOT that it is real or possible, just so it feels real and natural. you can go off and act like a big know it all but the fact is that this is supposed to be a fun game focused not on reality in anyway but believability and i cannot stress that enough. Bioxx himself has stated this time and again, has stated that magic and mythology will have its place in this overhaul as long as he can make them fit into this world. oh and i have a bachelors in biology, not molecular biology, not neural biology, not microbiology, general biology, meaning i study it all, so go fuck yourself, dragons may not be possible IRL but they are sure as hell possible in evolutionary theory. i know my grammar is terrible, but deal with it, its the bleeding internet, and i could not care less about my grammar online.

    they already have mods for this, the animations are a bit hard to get right, but it is actually very simple to code the player onto a dragon, it would basically be a stack effect like with skeletons and spiders, or players and pigs. hell i used spc (single play commands to put a skeleton on an enderdragon once, looked pretty good until the skeleton shoot the enderdragon and the dragon killed him

    Ok so I m going to post this mainly as a place for the community to put their ideas oh how hostile, neutral, and passive mods spawn. but i will also post my little idea. please feel free to post your own ideas and discuss every idea and opinion equally. ok so my idea is that mob spawning should be heavily tied to height, biome and seasonal change. i have a few ideas for how to prevent mob spawning, first off is my torch idea. i do like the idea that torches run out but they can still be used as a part of the no spawn system. this can be achieved by adding a deactivated torch image, a simple state change like the redstone that can be reactivated with a flint and steel. so torches could be used not only to create light but to also create a no spawn zone, linked to whatever their light reaches, but still lasts after the torch dies out. that way you can just make sure your house is filled with torches and you are safe even if they go out. my second idea is a player activated system. this one requires more work but is well worth the time spent because it can be used for many other systems later on. my idea is that player placed blocks, and only player placed blocks, not naturally occurring block updates. causes a small search for blocks to look around and see if there are walls and a roof. now there would have to be some creative way of not letting players just place down a block and insta clearing a cave of spawn locations but i feel it is a doable thing. maybe a combination of these two ideas to help balance the system out and make things easier on Bioxx? if combining these ideas makes it easier on him.oh and for fences, fences should create a "safe" location for your animals if you "complete the circuit" should also be applicable to rough terrain and building stables if horses are ever implemented other then through third party mods. Bioxx is basically building a whole new game why not do anything and everything that comes to mind? like horses. i want horses without having to install simply horses. yes i know i have terrible grammar. partially due to how tired and rushed i am. and the fact that i really do not care as of right now whether i have perfect grammar. just so long as you can read this. also for those who are going to post, if anyone does post, here's hoping, please do not come on here and start tearing apart everyone's ideas, please be constructive and help make the ideas better, or better yet just post your own idea. you are only being an asshole if you expect one person to think of everything and come up wit a perfect system.

    i also had another idea, in the nether there should be dragons as well, and they should be pretty aggressive, but still will only attack if you get to close. and nether dragons on the hunt would attack on site. i had the idea for a nether dragon community, not like a real system, just make it so nether dragons rarely fight each other and almost never to the death, and utilize the full height of the nether to make huge dragon community locations. sorry im just waking up. so yeah the nether should use the full height available to build awesome and dangerous terrain and allow for more dangerous enemies to spawn. my idea for a dragon community would be that in the middle of lava lakes, or close to the shore of lava seas would be a huge cluster if pillars/stalagmites/stalactites just large enough for a cave big enough for a dragon to move around comfortably in, and each community has many dragons and dragon caves. these would be extremely hostile territory and if you got within range any dragon that sees you would attack you on sight. but if you get into their caves/ treasure troves it would be well worth the danger. so the idea is that the dragons in the nether have to gather together to protect themselves and have learned to work together. also i had the idea, that if you were to use gems or gold, dragons not near a community would be nice, and if you gave them some treasure such as gems or gold then they would be willing to let you ride them from one location to another, this is just an idea and im pretty sure people won't like it but it would be a one time thing and you don't get to drive them, just give them coordinates and they drop you off when they get there

    yeah.... that sounds like a terrible compromise, it has way to many limitations, presents more problems then it is worth and well. not everyone can be happy with this decision, i certainly am not, so i just posted this so people can give their ideas and maybe come up with a much better system. personaly i hope that that system is only a place holder until a new one can be made.

    good idea, and i do agree that getting more hearts is a bit... not sure how to put it, but the biggest problem with a hearts system is just how limited it is. you have to compensate for space. have very specific numbers and such. in my opinion a complete overhaul of the health system is in order. and gaining more health is a valid idea. as people train to improve their physical performance as well as endurance. there are people who live longer, can take more damage and survive more deadly wounds then others. there are men who train them selves physical, eat healthy and take care of themselves with good medicine and can survive things most others would not, such as being gutted, my mom worked in a prison and had to scoop a man guts off the pavement while he was still alive. while i do agree that getting more health from medicine is unrealistic, this mod is not about realism, just believability,. and a leveling system like in Skyrim would be a hell of a lot of work just to improve some ones health. in my opinion a health bar is much more versatile. no limit on health as it does not need to get bigger, allows for larger variety of effects/ health boosts/ damage calculation. thus allowing the player to acquire more injuries and not die after getting a bruised leg and a broken pinkie (i don't know, these just popped out). it would allow Bioxx more freedom to expand and perfect the health system, yes it would be more work then sticking with a inferior system and just building around it but i believe that the little bit of extra work will simplify everything, especially if it is a system he designed himself that he can manipulate easier due to familiarity rather then having to learn to work someone else's work. sorry i am a bit of a messy typer unless i can fit in a particular format such as bullet point of Cornelle.

    could you post some images, i have basicaly been living in a cave. i consider myself a gamer and am definitely a bit of a nerd and geek but i have trouble remembering names of people and places. and have a severely limited number of games to reference. i might know what you are talking about but i either do not remember them, or have yet to play the game/read the book/ watch the movie.

    Good point, this would not be hard to code. if i am not mistaken Bethesda Softworks used something similar while coding armor damage in both Morrowind and Oblivion. Shame they removed it in Skyrim, but it made my life easier. and they probably use a similar system for the armor damage calculation in Minecraft. all they would have to do is make a simple mesh that is constant on the character to assign the same system. and then code it so that directly affects life. im sure they could work out a simple and awesome system.

    i agree this needs work, but do to some serious computer problems i am not going to be updating the suggestion anymore, i am merely going to let people post there ideas here and discuss until we can all come to an agreement, then i will probably hand over my account to some one so they can fix it up nice and pretty. i suck at presentation anyways. i will edit it a bit before i log off for a long time. probably will not be back for months seeing as how i need anew computer and have college to think about. any ways yes this idea needs work, but this is not purely about the post, but about the comments and suggestions from the community. instead of saying you think it needs work, tell us what exactly or generally needs work so we can focus and improve this topic. if you do not like something give you opinion on how it should be changed.

    Well i see this topic keeps getting brought back and forgotten but the ideas and support are much appreciated. I am having serious computer problems of late and have unfortunately been unable to get on for quite some time. I hope to see more ideas and suggestions for this as with beta 2 growing every day it might not be too long before Bioxx decides to implement a new health system. I made this suggestion not strictly for a specific idea but so we as a community can build a new health system we can all enjoy. If you have ideas post them, if you have doubts or think something should be removed post a comment telling us about it. If you just want to give support please post a comment giving that support so this can stay near the top of the suggestions page and others have a chance to see it and build upon it. Every time this page is necoed it has a chance to be improved. Many people seem to like my ideas but others think that it is to complicated or out of place. If you have a better idea or a way to simplify these ideas please post a comment. Remember this is a page for everyone to discuss and build upon this suggestion until we have a system we can all be happy with

    also as a bit of an improvement to this idea, making it so that driftwood, like rocks, have a chance to drop a rare drop. in this case saplings instead of small ores. it makes sense. is a branches and bits of logs float out to sea and back in, saplings would also do the same. or maybe seeds that you have to plant and let grow into saplings. IDK. this would allow people on desert islands to not only have a starting source of wood, but a chance at a renewable source of lumber. of course allowing driftwood to appear along coast lines from time to time would also be a nice way to ensure that even after the character checks all the driftwood, even if they did not get any saplings they will not have to worry about running out and never getting anymore. and also another chance at a sapling would be nice for people in that type of situation. also only certain types of saplings or seeds should pop up out of driftwood.
