      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Why this mod become hardcore ?

TerraFirmaCraft is intended to be a challenging survival mod first and foremost. This means survival is the main focus, and so survival should be difficult and challenging. Hardcore, even. That's the idea of TerraFirmaCraft: to make a true survival Minecraft, since vanilla Minecraft has very little proper survival. Vanilla Minecraft is essentially Creative on extreme difficulty mode. If you want to play on creative, you can always make a creative world. Or you can make a survival world, and use cheats to temporarily enter creative mode whenever you feel like taking a shortcut. As for your specific points: I admit I haven't generated far too many worlds since the most recent big update, but the few I have generated did have a lot of islands, and oceans were pretty damn huge. Perhaps it's intended, but I personally wouldn't mind a little less water and a little more "continents". That being said, you can always use cheats to enter creative mode and fly around until you find a good spot or good coordinates to settle. This is assuming you're playing in single-player, of course.I can't comment too much on the availability of sheep because I've never had difficulty finding them, at least compared to other animals. But yes, there were changes to how wool works, I believe, and wool beds are harder to make now? So you'll have to use straw and hide beds initially, which only set the spawn point, but don't let you sleep. You are supposed to wait the night out instead of just skipping it, for extra difficulty. Sleeping shouldn't be such a "cheat" as it is, I think. You are supposed to chop down trees and use logs as your starting building blocks, along with thatch. You're not supposed to get stone blocks until you start making metal tools. Eventually I'm pretty sure we'll have bricks to use during the pottery age, too, but for now, use logs and thatch, along with the natural landscape as a simple foundation to save on resources.Again, finding metal before having metal tools is supposed to be a challenge, and you're not really supposed to jump on to more advanced materials before getting out of the pottery age, really.
  2. 1.7.10 mods with TFCb79

I just tried it, and it did stop the periodical freezing. Unfortunately, Standard doesn't have the FPS smoothing features, so there were constant lag spikes, even more so than without OF, I think.I also tried Ultra but on smooth chunk-loading mode instead of multi-core. That too stopped the freezing, and the lag spikes, but I think it made the client overall slower at processing everything. So I've decided to just go without and just stick to FastCraft. It's not perfect, but it's decent.Thank you for the help!
  3. 1.7.10 mods with TFCb79

Has anyone actually been able to successfully use Optifine with 0.79.10? I switched to the latest version of TFC, plus Forge 10.13.1.1217 as indicated in the download page, plus FastCraft 1.9, and Optifine (Ultra) for 1.7.10 (last version was: A4, compatible with Forge #1180), and everything seemed to be working with high FPS up until I started moving around and chunks got loaded. The client systematically froze for quite a few seconds, every few seconds. It was quite literally unplayable. Removing FastCraft did nothing to alleviate the issue (in fact, it worsened FPS). The only solution was to remove Optifine altogether, and keep FastCraft. I don't use a custom resource pack for TFC so that's fine, but not having Optifine means performance isn't as good, especially when it comes to FPS smoothness. But at least it's working properly and with decent FPS. It could just be Optifine (maybe the fact it was built for Forge 1180 and TFC uses 1217). Or it could be that Optifine and FastCraft are interfering, and thus FC's fixes don't get properly applied, resulting in the bug, I dunno. If anyone has installed these mods differently and managed to get them working, I'd appreciate some input. And sorry to sorta hijack this thread but it's about mod compatibility and I don't feel like I should open a support thread about Optifine here.
  4. Stone tools durability

From the knapping page on the wiki: Some types of stone will result in more durable stone tools than others. This is not immediately apparent, as all stone tool icons look the same. In order of increasing durability: Sedimentary, Metamorphic, Igneous Intrusive, Igneous Extrusive. There are many types of stone in each category. So basically, ideally you'd want to make stone tools out of the same types of rock you use for stone anvils. But considering you're not intended to stay on the stone tier for too long, I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you're playing some kind of custom map where every little bit of efficiency counts.
  5. [Sovled] Chiseling the forge

I don't know if this is intended or not but it'd be nice if it were kept, it looks pretty nice for decorative purposes.
  6. [Solved] Rocks Bug?

If you look at the change log for 0.78.4, you'll find the following changes: Loose rocks on the ground no longer spawn as little cubes and instead display an entity laying flat on the ground showing what item they are. This means that looking for surface ores is now far more simple as you can recognize them on sight instead of needing to run around punching rocks.Similar to the loose rocks change, sticks can now be found strewn about the world under trees, along riverbanks, and on beaches. This should give players who spawn in parts of the world with little tree cover a leg up to begin their journey.
  7. [Offline] Co-Op TFC Server, Skype, 24/7

Hey! Are you still looking for new players? I'm bored of playing by myself, so I was wondering if I could still give a shot at yours! Age: nearly 24, i.e. old, very very old Skype handle: cm.vbj My favourite mode of play is in fact co-op, and I stay away from PvP, so yea. I used to play TFC a lot before the pottery update, all the way to steel-forging, but since then I've actually not yet messed around with iron and steel-making under the new mechanics, so technically I'm still wet behind the ears when it comes to "new" TFC and recent features. I hope that's not a deal-breaker, but if it is, that's okay, I totally understand. Depending on time zones, it might be difficult for me to voice chat on Skype, because of the noise I'd be making at late night (I can't speak softly if my life depended on it, the struggle is real), but text chatting is always a go, regardless. As for personal information, I'm currently on hold with my Psychology degree, but I'm working to become an industrial and organizational psychologist. I too love science fiction, cars aren't my division but I'm hopelessly in love with trains (I would buy an entire maglev play-track if I had the money) -- incidentally I'm a Transport Tycoon nerd, shhh (blame my father, he's the reason I have so much passion for old games) -- and uhh, what else... Oh, I love TV shows a lot, as well as some anime. Also, I finished high school with an Arts degree (because Arts -> Psych makes that much more sense), and my artistic passions are writing and oil painting. I like collecting arts supplies because I like being surrounded by them, makes me feel right at home, and also books because they smell good (old or new, always smell good) and because each book is like a little slice of heaven in earthly form. Please leave a note letting us know if you're still recruiting, if you have the time. I'd really appreciate it!
  8. Hello! : ) I would like to apply to this server: In-game name: CaelannAge: 23Where do you come from: PortugalNative Language (must be able to speak english): PortugueseRead all server rules?: YesWhere did you hear about our Server(s)?: Via this threadI'd like to know, however, if PvP is enabled on this server or not. Mostly because I'm not very much into it. P:Also, do the present players in general prefer to play in a community, or are they more of the "loner" type? This is a mod I'd prefer not to play by myself as in SP, so if there are no communities on the map and everyone plays alone it's a no-go for me. Kind regards!
  9. [Offline] New TFC server for a few

Hello! I'm interested in trying out your server - looking for a fresh one for co-op play, mainly. Not so keen on PVP. I'm no expert on TFC but I've learnt the basics and stuff, also, the wiki helps a lot. P: I think I'll survive. My time-zone is GMT, which means 4-5 more hours vs. Georgia time, if I'm not mistaken. I should probably be online at roughly the same time as you, although that depends on what time you usually play. I tend to play after 8 pm or so, sometimes earlier, and usually throughout late night, because I clearly have a problem going to bed early. uwu Anywho, if that's okay with you, hit me up or something. : ) My Minecraft name is Caelann and my Skype name is on my profile (only for IMing, though - sorry!). Kind regards!
  10. [0.79.15] Rhodance's "HugBox" Server [Closing May 22]

Hello! I'm looking for a server for relaxed cooperative survival (preferably without forced PvP because meh?), and also to learn more about TFC because I am a complete noob. My Minecraft name is the same as my forum name here. Also, I don't really do voice chat, just Skype for messaging. If you need to feel free to add me on Skype, name's on my profile. : ) Oh and are you going to wipe the server for v77? So maybe I shouldn't go crazy on anything if it's just going to be deleted? Kind regards!
  11. [Offline] Join my server

Aww. Really? : / I thought you guys were going to just start over. That's a shame. I was really looking forward to trying this on multiplayer. Well, if you guys decide to migrate elsewhere maybe leave a note here or something. P :
  12. [Offline] Join my server

Hello!~ Simonar1000, are you still accepting new players in your server? 'Cause I've known about TFC for ages but never really played it online and since I've been away from Minecraft for a bit I really wanted to go back to it for this mod and fail miserably at it because it is so insanely hard and there are so many new updates I don't even know and and maybe I should start using commas more often. No, but seriously. I was hoping to find a server that's not too overpopulated so I can have some relaxed co-op fun with people. :3 Even though I'm a complete noob at TFC because holy cow, it's... so different. But I'm watching some LPs and re-learning stuff so I think I'll live? ^o^'' Well, it's okay if you're only looking for experienced players. : ) Although, before anything, I should ask: what's the up-time schedule for the server? Timezone, etc.? Kind regards!
