      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

      There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
      If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
      I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    Very good idea. The generic term in english is called Confitand you can also use a sugar water or a heavy syrup.

    Here is a nice way to preserve grains for about a year or more. http://youtu.be/PwqjJn3IaoM?t=52m43s A hole is dug on the ground filled with grain (maybe how we fill a kiln with straw) then covered with a clay lid. As described in the video it causes the grain to hibernate. And it can last from 1 to 2 years. Very simple technology. One other thing that could help people survive is to have a very inefficient way to grind grain banging grain on rocks etc, (maybe even causing us to lose half or some percentage during the grinding process)

    The Ice growth may actually make ice formation a lot less resource intensive. Since it needs to check whether it is next to a shore and/or ice to form, and it is not a whole water body check. In the server I frequent, they actually raised the water freezing temperature to 2C so that the whole freezing and unfreezing wouldn't happen too often and dragging resources with it.

    While I was really glad they removed finite water, mainly due to being so buggy and resource hungry, having a use for rain would be great. Even if the only thing you could build would be a rain collector. Or even if barrel could be left open and filled with rain water.
