      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  1. Lol I hate when that happens. I'd rather a single drop item, use the knife like a chisel in crafting table to carve. I think the better knives should simply have more durability a la chisels.

Or maybe, implement a carving table used both for this and the new brick ideas. Lol autocorrected me to "grafting table"

EDIT: on the subject of ingot piles, does anyone know why my ingots won't stack or shift click correctly?

  2. I definitely think that with all the rock and tree combinations, a little shrubbery/flowery/foliagery could blow extrabiomesxl OUT OF THE WATER. The problem is that certain biomes should have more specific rock composition. Like a canyon made from granite wouldn't make any sense. It would have to be sedimentary. Likewise a volcano would have to have igneous extrusive rock.

EDIT: RE: punctuation. Just use good English. I have a habit of writing with excellent grammar but I often use leetspeak in regular conversation do it comes out in my posts. If you use an iPod or iPhone that is no excuse for bad punctuation and especially not spelling. This whole paragraph had been severely autocorrected. TFForum should have a warning system so we can get angry at people about typing "hAlp it no work!!1" -sent from an iProduct.

  3. One step missing. Dead animal gives you body. Craft knife with body to get carcass and hide. The hide would work the way you said with the tanning rack. The carcass could be made into meat somehow. For the chest nerf, how about items rot in chests so need ice box. The ingot piles/metal blocks are mostly for decoration and use in advanced structures rather than storage.

  4. Ok. I'll buy that. I think we need to have metal blocks. I want to say 4 ingots in a square. 9 is too many because I want metal blocks to play a role in some more advanced PBSs. And also maybe squids on the butcher table gets you the ink sacs, and squid meat (CALAMARI!!!)

  5. What they did with cakes was make buckets something called a container item. That way the filled container reverts to a regular container after use. However, of the skinned hide needs to be knifed again, and you need another container, I don't think you can have nested containers. Still good idea though.

  6. The problem with the air tank is that it turns out to be very difficult to hold air underwater IRL. Scuba is a fairly recent invention considering TFC is set in the year 1000. The only thing i can think of is a floating object. Basically an air tank item that when you place it on the surface of the water like a boat so an entity, that maybe drifts around to it. Then a helmet item like a mask that you put it on and right click on the floating tank. That connects you to the tank with a minimum distance of 4 blocks or so. Then you add more tubes to the slot in the tank to allow you to go further. The tank doesn't have durability but the helmet does, if you go too far away you disconnect (and probably drown) and if you stay down to long the helmet breaks (and you drown). Also as for seeing underwater if there aren't goggles then perhaps the mining helmet works underwater?

  7. The rotting food idea goes well with the icebox. i agree 100%. The reason i don't support the crafting of a workplace as opposed to building it is because if you build it , then it is customisable(a little because you could make the bloomery as big as you want). I like tfc because it openended. You don't just have to repeat the same process, there's a trillion different combinations of stone, bricks, wood, etc. So i like customisation a little bit. Anyway enough ranting. I definitely support the rotting idea. How about, a knife (a new smithing anvil plan item) that is used similarly to a chisel. Basically i want a way to use the knife to turn the dead cow into cowhide and unbutchered cow meat. The problem is, crafting only has one output. So perhaps... Rightclicking knife opens a GUI, anvil-type. But that seems like a waste of coding. Maybe just rightclicking the knife in your hand splits the first corpse in your inventory, and hurts durability. I don't really know, but anyway. the corpse, the cowhide, and the meat would have a status. Like has been said, fresh, warm, old, spoiled, and rotten. The rotten would be useless, and anyway, the rest seems good. When you split it, you get the two pieces (meat + hide) with the same status. Then tanning the hide to get leather and splitting the meat to get the beef. I guess the icebox for preserving them, because they would lose status in the chest. Just throwing ideas out. maybe for the ceramic structure, you would craft clay into the unfired things, then you place them around a fire or something and cover it, and they turn into ceramic versions. You would need new block versions of each of them.

  8. So when I first started playing minecraft back in early beta, I was fascinated with the nether portal concept, having spent most of my other video gaming on MMOs, I liked the concept of a thing you had to build, instead of just magically fusing together wood to get sticks. I love miss that add more structures, and I was there at the Fall of BTW :( . I love the bloomery and forge and I would love to see more. This thread is for any ideas. Yes, some of these are from other threads, but I think they belong together. First is a tanning/drying rack. I think it would be made with vertical supports for posts and wool or some new cloth stretched over it. The longer you made the wool the more space you'd have. Used for tanning leather and drying herbs, and maybe if more ceramic is added. Next is some kind of work bench. Not a crafting table, a WORKbench. It would be similar to th anvil except instead of being for metals it would be for leather and cloth, and maybe advanced chiseling if that gets implemented. Third is a freezer/ice box. The idea is ice would be harvested similarly to clean stone. How about... If an ice block is not touching any blocks or water, and the temperature is cold enough,(and maybe is harvested with a special tool idk) then you get the ice blocks. So if ice is places in a 2x2 pattern with stone(not cobble) or bricks of any kind surrounding it, with a 2x2 air space above it(also stone covered) then things can be frozen in it (and keep food from spoiling). Finally, to go with the glass blowing suggestion, A special glassblowing interface block a la bloomery needs to be touching a copper or higher anvil, a forge, and a bellows the forge must be lit but it's okay I'd it goes out after it is created. Molten glass can be blown on the interface block, the bellows is needed to create but not necessary to use. It has a fuel slot so you don't have to have access to the forge.it has anvil style buttons, and a plan slot. That's it for now, add any more or comment on these. Thanks

EDIT: another option is a sundial, the built in calendar is strange and annoying, a sundial created with stone and a top interface block(not really an interface, just to recognize the structure as a sundial. It would change textures based on the time.

  9. It sounds very... arbitrary. I had the same thought about the research system in thaumcraft. It's like your just trying to make it harder by implementing random required events. i tend to have miserable luck with world gen, and i can see myself trying random patterns in the hopes of finding one. And if you made it so you had to discover it, then it really would be miserable. To refine my other idea, each gem has 3-5 enchantments that it can get. The tier of the gems determine how strong. So a flawed ruby could give fire aspect, fire resistance, sharpness, and efficiency, and it could be anywhere from level 1 to level 3 (cuz flawed is level 2). But you wouldn't know. It would just have the shimmer. And if you tried to connect to a tool that was wrong (say silk touch on a chestplate) then it just wouldn't work.

  10. It says this is all temporary. I definitely think that TFC just begs for minecarts, this mod definitely has potential for big servers with like 5 or 6 people per faction, and definitely this deserves some tender loving care. I think the minecart recipe is ok, but the rails i think should be assembled using a hammer, nails, some sticks/ties, and some sort of bed. I want there to be nails so the other stuff i have planned for new suggestions can be harder/more fun to assemble

  11. that is way overpowered. as best i can understand, the tech tree is parabolic, meaning that the jump from stone to tin is much greater than the jump from black steel to blue steel. In vanilla a bow on crit does 5 damage, so since that's a twohit kill it is too overpowered and you suggest making it easier? 2-3 damage is a lot. I think maybe a composite bow would fire further. maybe that's it.

  12. I think that normal stone arrows should do 1 heart (1.5 with crit), metals(bismuth, tin, zinc, copper, iron) would do 2.5 (3 with crit), then alloys(basically everything else except for blue and red steel) would do 3.5 (4 with crit) and then blue and red steel would do 4 (4.5 with crit) considering normal vanilla arrows do 5 with crit, this seems like a good parabolic progression. It fits with the tin pickaxe is several times stronger than stone but copper is only 50% better than tin, etc. However, there would have to be some incentive to make alloys so maybe every next tier has a chance of popping off like has been said.

  13. If you mean IC2 style rubber boots then no. Those things are WAY overpowered. Maybe just something simple, like blocking fall damage if it's less than 1.5 hearts or something. I think an if the glassblowing suggestion gets implemented then goggles for seeing underwater could be possible. I don't think scuba makes sense, I mean this has been said before but how about a breathing reed a la terraria, just a helmet that could let you breath if you were within 2 blocks of surface. An underwater pickaxe doesn't make any sense. If it's heavy enough to mine as fast as a normal pick, then it will be slower underwater, and if it is light enough to be used at the same speed underwater, then it would be slower. Also that doesn't belong on this thread but hey, it goes with your suggestion so ok.
