      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord ( is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Complements, that other types of Bulat. It was such a legendary Indian damask. And how long ago lost trade secret? Indeed, now is not precisely known technology that was used in ancient India. It is so carefully concealed that to 17-18 century secret was lost. This is due to a decrease in demand for damask caused by the start of production of high-quality and low-cost blade weapon of industrial steel, which first led to a reduction in the smelting of Damascus steel in India, and then to a complete stop it.Numerous attempts to uncover the secret of Damascus steel researchers were unsuccessful. However, the Russian metallurgist Pavel Petrovich Anosov at the beginning of the XIX century the technology was developed, with which he managed to get steel, corresponding to the pattern and quality of the best varieties of Indian damask steel. It is based on this technology pour damask now. The main mistake of researchers to Anosov was that they were trying to get the pattern due to additives in the chemical composition of the alloy. Only Anosov during the experiments failed to prove that Bulat differs from ordinary steel is not the chemical composition and physical structure.According to well-established more or less the terminology in Russia today, the word "damask" is commonly understood is cast Bulat. I adhere to this variant on its website.Types of Damascus steel (chemical composition)Despite the fact that the understanding of the basis of Damascus steel is its physical structure, it, as well as any steel composition may contain besides iron and carbon additional elements. If damask is melted on the basis of carbon steel with the addition of iron, and part of the auxiliary input only natural impurities in small amounts, such damask called "carbon". As with all carbon steel it is prone to rust. Modern metallurgy, has a vast range of alloy steels, pushed artists to create a "doped" and "stainless" Damascus steel. They are melted based alloy steels and can be corrosion resistant.Carbon Bulat: Stainless Bulat:Vutts (Wootz)In the old days, after melting ingot or damask unfetters on the spot or so and sold in the form of ingot, called "vutts." Caravans with them went far beyond India. These ingots were in the form of a small loaf. Thus, the word "vutts" means it is an ancient Indian ingot smelting. The English word "wootz" serves as a definition of the ingot, and Damascus steel in general. Including modern damask also called "wootz". To indicate damask blade used phrase "Wootz Blade" or "Wootz Damascus Blade".Vutts, XVIII century. The maximum dimensions of 53 * 44mm. Weight 1 pound (about 450g).

Damascus steel is manufactured by forge welding multiple plates, differing from each other in their chemical composition and, therefore, the color after etching. When talking about the legendary "Damascus steel", then under this stuff actually meant Persian-Indian crucible steel with a high carbon content (up to 2%). Pattern appears due to the formation of carbide and ferrite matrix by slow cooling of the material.A Bulat.Bulat - the collective name for a hard and tough alloys of iron and carbon. Chemically different from damask steel quantitative carbon content. For this indicator, damask close to iron. But physically it retains ductility low carbon steels and palpably superior to the latter in hardness after quenching.Damascus is cooked brown plates of various steels (eg on US stamps: Steel T31507 and T72301), and Bulat is often cast iron with coal, molten cool solution in a crucible without its removal, then poluchaetsya bloomery iron that droblyat and again fall asleep in crucible with charcoal and then brought to a liquid state and then allowed to cool without removing from the oven, and then later it turns out the so-called vutts who sawed and this must be forged blades. If you have any questions please, I will answer.
  4. Shears recipe

Yes, I did a little bit wrong, what if iron please, here is a picture of various scissors, yes I probably bad English, sorry.
  5. Shears recipe

my idea:Scissors. Receipt. Scissors can be prepared from metal tool. Scissors obtained as joint casting operation and forging. Casting. Blades sheaths may be prepared from the following metals: bronze, copper, iron and steel. Using clay to make ceramic mold scissors; pour molten metal into a mold; remove the resulting preform under the scissors and make the following work on the anvil, at the operating temperature for the metal: Part 1 of 3 medium impact; 2 of the work: to stretch, a slight bump, stretch; 3 part of the work: bending light blow, bend. As a result, we obtain a pair of scissors.
  6. Good time, everyone. I know that most here do not speak Russian, but still think the article about the ore will be useful for further translate into Google translator will not work individuality, I would be happy to translate it for you, but I do not know how to write in your style, so that you would have accepted it gladly help than I can. Link.
  7. offers from Russia

Just really want to see something new, in addition to standard forgings;Well, more functional anvil; yes billet heated in the furnace and the blast occurs metal casting, and also want to see a more advanced system for obtaining various alloys, look like somethingDatabase of Steel, I think is not a bad thing to do various iron alloys, transforming and experimenting with carbon and ligated elements.Не ты один тут Русский))

Welcome , and if I suggest something on the anvil ? Well, there are very few functions , and thus forging her usefulness is not possible , a maximum of blows , bending , welding, broaching and compression ; and used all nakovalyunyu , so for example to make three tabs : 1. face - basic operations ( broaching , sediment , welding , stamping , shrinkage , bending and weave ); 2 . Horn - bending work (bending radially expanding otversky and billets , forgings rounding ); and 3. hole in the anvil - for Shim tool : embossments , chisels , stamping mandrels and plugs , as well as insertion holes and the formation of " hats " in gvorzdey. Here's a good article

  10. T1 container: Straw basket.

a good idea in terms of what you can add not only the basket, but also: backpacks, jugs, some dishes (plates) and furniture, so I'm behind)
  11. offers from Russia

Well, in this topic, I'll give your ideas, if useful, please report it, as I can help with textures to objects and possibly armor. How about adding a mod tea? I personally still drink "herbal tea" - brewed from herbs Hypericum and mint: You can also use herbs for tinctures and potions, poisons for weapons, as well as various zasolok and so much more, making poputi all fresh and new to modification ....
  12. offers from Russia

Hi everyone! To begin, I would like to make a small comment: 1. Scythe is not intended to cut foliage, as it al be applicable for the harvest of crops and critters;2. Knife can be used just as well for cutting sticks of leaves, furthermore there is a special tool-pruner-designed for cutting unnecessary branches and shoots; Fried impossible to cook just for this you need some sort of a surface or in extreme cases, a stone, and so the egg can cook in a tank, for example, you can make razvibvaem eggs (we put the egg in the slots and ceramic dishes or processed flat stone, then get beaten egg on stone or container, but really there and can pogogret) andotherwith food-cooking will be more difficult because you will need to add boiling water, and then actually can and meat, vegetables and other foods;respectively, will need to add any capacity bucket (even ceramic vessel may work) for cooking and boiling water is then mozheno and soups cook;Well yet such ideas, thank you for your attention !
