      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Put me down, I think I'll have a blast with this. I love to RP. EDIT: Also, I THOUGHT that name looked familiar... Killerbee hosts an Industrial craft server I visit sometimes, of which a friend of mine is a staff member. If I remember correctly, the new server is out of Texas... Not entirely sure...
  2. Snow Uniformity

I tried to attach the photo, but it's not working, or I can't find the right buttons, so I'll just tell you. While we are having this offtopic discussion of poetry, the Add for me on the front page is for a book of, and I quote, "19th-century American Poetry"
  3. the scaleing bar (safety tool while mining)

Another thought strikes me and I can"t believe no one asked it before. You said something about "remove rocks at a safe distance". Steve's reach (the default char's name) is 8 blocks or so, if I'm remembering correctly. What is the distance that the actuall, RL tool works at? Cause 8m or so sure as Hell isn't "safe" when messing around with cave-ins
  4. Snow Uniformity

-The Conqueror Worm, Edgar Poe Cited from memory, not a single word looked up. You, Sir, have won my respect. /clap That, and the fact that your Avatar is a Dragon wearing Kanina sunglasses...
  5. How to Gold pan?

Curses, reached my "Positive Votes" limit for today... *checks time* in 16 Minutes?!?! Wow... So I'll give toy an "Internet Thumbs Up" instead! Anyway, I use them for filling my sluice, if I use them at all, honestly
  6. Caves?

Ahhh, cause I am sure as Hell that I've actually SEEN the user name "InfernalToaster" before... Oh! I have! It was in an online game I used to play, The dude named himself "Infernal Toaster" after the toaster from Foamy The Squirrel!
  7. Caves?

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to tell me... specifically the "name fabrication" part.
  8. Caves?

Not sure if I should tell you, so I won't. I will tell you, however, to go look up "beaver" in urbandictionary.com
  9. Snow Uniformity

Very impressive, to me anyway. /offtopic My High School Choir did the complete Frostiana at one of our concerts. I was singing it in my head as I posted it. /offtopic
  10. Blacksmithing Changes

Which one, the TOOL HEAD, or the Bloomery? I was thinging about putting that Idea in, but didn't. Thanks for bringing it up . It certianly would be believable, having an 8th or so of the metal unuseable (Contaminated by the quenching procces? Lost in Forging?), so you'd need to pop a few more ores into the Bloomery to get a full bar out.
  11. Snow Uniformity

My friend copied his Minecraft folder to me, so I got all the mods he has, Smart Moving not one of them. Does it help the TFC experience?
  12. Blacksmithing Changes

I don't like that blacksmithing will get harder, but this seems a fun way to increase the difficulty level. And I very much approve of the remelting sentiment. instead of disappearing while it is quenched, it would give "BROKEN xXmetal_nameXx TOOL HEAD", like "BROKEN TIN TOOL HEAD" or something like that. But how would it be reforged? Would you toss it into a Bloomery and melt it into an Unshapen Bar? That certianly seems the easiest way.
  13. Snow Uniformity

Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village, though; He will not see me stopping here To watch his woods fill up with snow. My little horse must think it queer To stop without a farmhouse near Between the woods and frozen lake The darkest evening of the year. He gives his harness bells a shake To ask if there is some mistake. The only other sound's the sweep Of easy wind and downy flake. The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, But I have promises to keep, And miles to go before I sleep, And miles to go before I sleep. Robert Frost's "Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening" Seriously the first thing that popped into my head when I saw your post. Anyway, yeah, I agree. The snow should be a bit more uniform. It's hard navigating through it, the different levels hiding their actual hight, making cliff navigation a pain.
  14. the scaleing bar (safety tool while mining)

That is a nifty tool. But I must be stubborn, cause the easiest way I see this being implemented is like a propick, giving messages on cave strength instead of ore concentration... That just sparked an idea... one function (the stability read out) could be mapped to a mouse key, and the remove block mapped to another... just an Idea
  15. the scaleing bar (safety tool while mining)

I still think one of the best ways to add this would be messages similar to the propick, along with the false negatives. It seems like that would hold true to the spirit of the tool, if not the function. A reasonable compromise, if you will. One question I have, though, is that if the tool removes a loose rock, would that have a chance to strengthen the surrounding rocks (decrease the chance of cave ins, or weaken the surrounding rocks (increase the chance) (if you can't understand what I was trying to say, I'm sorry. I don't know how I could have phrased it better)
  16. the scaleing bar (safety tool while mining)

Baaaaaaaaack on topic... I like this idea, but when I read the OP, the vibe I got from it was that the bar was used to detect the possibility of cave-ins, not trigger them (if that's not it, then I must be blind ). I think a neat compromise to triggering a cave-in would be a message given, like, "the rocks look stable" or "the rocks are very loose". Or variations there of (sort of like the messages with the propick). With maybe a small percetage of triggering a cave-in, due to the bar updating the block's info (I'm not too sure how they are caused, but I observed dirt not falling into water until I walked on it or picked up rocks of it). Just a thought, cause this would be a very useful tool when you are delving deep into the earth in search of ores.
  17. Caves?

I personally like the rarity of caves. One feature you may not have encountered yet is the "Cave In" feature, where unsupported rock walls will collapse. This causes the ground above it to make a sink hole. To my knowledge, the cave in is cause when the block is updated, whether that be a creeper exposion, mining, or placing blocks. A friend of mine once recounted a story of a Minecrafter running from a creeper and once it exploded, the world around him collapsed about 50 blocks, due to a network of caves. How would you feel, when working on your house, the ground around you suddenly drops 10-20 blocks? Caves are rare on purpose, along with ores. It gives this mod a skill and difficulty that vanilla can't give.
  18. Bone Marrow

It would be neat, I agree, but the things that drop said bones are long dead, so any marrow left, if any would be rancid and foul. Besides, can't bones be uses to make tools? I think that's what most people would use them for. Plus the wolves... Always need some attack wolves
  19. How to find ores using a prospector's pick

I would have found out how to use it more effeciently eventually. In older versions, I was planning on strip mining every reading I saw. This will point me in the right direction, Thanks
  20. Improved Stone Knapping Interface

Well, sorry for being new . I'll search harder next time to find similar posts. I think, though, my thread revived this one, looking at the time stamps. Anyway, this is exactly what I was thinking about. Being able to place another stone in the GUI would help greatly.
  21. Flint Knapping

I don't know if this has been suggested before (I looked back in the suggestions about a month and didn't see anything like it), but to make Knapping easier, why not add a "holding area" or something where, while in the Knapping GUI, instead of going to a crafting table or the player crafting gui and clicking two stones, the player can just take a stone for the "holding area" and continue Knapping. I think it could make making stone tools less of a headache. To me, at least. What do I know, I've only been playing this mod for a week. Basically, I'm asking if an option could be added to continue Knapping from the GUI instead of exiting and opening again.
  22. Smithing Overhaul- from my idea of Chimney Chokes

/offtopic Not really helping or anything, but this is what wiki's got to say about flues http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flue /offtopic But I still think the system we have in place is more than addequate and as complicated as it needs to be for believability's sake. Could a chimney be added? Yes. Would it change much in the grand sceme of things? In my opinion, no, it wouldn't. Not saying it couldn't be added, just that what we have accomplishes much the same.
  23. Smithing Overhaul- from my idea of Chimney Chokes

Commented on this in the first thread, But I still see no problem with the current system. Bellows to icrease heat at an increased fuel compsumption rate, and (if I have been led to understand it correctly) coal and charcoal which give different base heat as fuel.
  24. Dirt Roads

I like this idea, seems very fitting for the atmosphere of the mod. Dirt roads made through heavy traffic and a tool. But if there is a cobble or smooth stone roaqd, how would you create it? I can see just laying bown the stones to make the road, yes, but how would you get it to be recegognized AS a road by the game, thus getting the benifits, if any, for being a road?
