      ATTENTION Forum Database Breach   03/04/2019

There has been a breach of our database. Please make sure you change your password (use a password manager, like Lastpass).
If you used this password anywhere else, change that too! The passwords themselves are stored hashed, but may old accounts still had old, insecure (by today's standards) hashes from back when they where created. This means they can be "cracked" more easily. Other leaked information includes: email, IP, account name.
I'm trying my best to find out more and keep everyone up to date. Discord (http://invite.gg/TerraFirmaCraft) is the best option for up to date news and questions. I'm sorry for this, but the damage has been done. All I can do is try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

So, i found this cave that passed below a lake:

if that water get updated a whole cavesistem below would flood.

SO, imho this is not a feature, (imagine a lava lake in the ceiling =) )

I too see this alot, particularly with underground rivers and ravines, where they intersect. Large expanses of water suspended in awkward floating positions. I havent really given it much thought, because you see this on vanilla as well, typically around areas where caves meet the ocean in the sides of hills and mountains.

I have just run into a similiar situation myself and was wondering if there was any danger of my actions somehow updating the water and causing it to flood into the cavern.

Has anyone had this happen?

place a block next to the water and yes, it will happen, though 'usually' only next to that one block you updated, it can sometimes(though rarely it seems) cause chain reactions.

It's not danger, it's fun.

To keep the water from flowing through the cave and breaking torches, place a 1 high wall just beyond where the water would fall from directly above. You can also make a 1 deep trench and it will work just as good.
